Scotty in your signature you state that you have close to 43 cord of wood. Do you sell wood or is that for your personal use.

I like the double barrel look on the muff mod.

Pry this from my cold dead hands..........Back in the early 70's to mid 80's it spent its working life in the massive old growth Douglas Firs & Redwoods in northern California & southern Oregon.Bruised & battered finally getting a well deserved rest in some unknown barn for 25+ years until I brought it back to life in spring/summer 2013. :saw: :dex:

If it could talk I can only imagine the stories it would tell....:tears::BrianK:

Mag Craft, that wood is for my personal use. Between my cutting partner and I, we've probably cut close to 60+ cord this year alone. We split the wood "50/50" usually, he takes half or I take half, or we get rid of it before it ever leaves the jobsite. I'm an honest 5 years ahead now, so I only keep the premium stuff anymore (locust, sugar maple, black birch, beech, hickory), most of the rest we get rid of. Not that other wood isn't any good, but I'm so far ahead I've become a sort of "wood snob"......the limited space I have, I choose the best bang for the buck, so to speak.

I have a second pile I'm working on that will be used this winter for making maple syrup (late Feb through March), I've been keeping Norway maple, ash, cherry and lots of pine for that event. My syrup evaporator eats a TON of wood.

It's taken me alot of time, trial and error, and money to finally figure out what I really like. I have a few that I will not sell simply bc of who I got them from. They would be my 1st Husq- a 288lite that Randy owned, a mint condition 262xp that Cgraham1 (clint) sold me, and the 395xp that I got from Dexter Day (Kenis) these 3 have great sentimental value to me. The others could be bought if you have deep enough pockets. I dont have any beater saws, if I sell it.... it's worth every penny of my asking price.

It seems all of my saws were my favorite at one time or another. They seem to take turns on my #1 list. Like my kids, I try to love them equally.

That was my thread over on AS. I forgot all about it, that was a long time ago.

    I still have my beloved JD/Echo, and I got a P-62 Pioneer that ain't going anywhere. I wish I still had the 1074 I bought when I was 14.

My Poulan 3700 that my dad bought new in 1983 won't go anywhere. Lots of memories of being in the woods with him when I was younger. Anything else I have would be fair game, but none of them are worth much, except maybe the 290 if I threw it on CL.

Compression finally started to drop. Hit 90 psi so I took it in to my trusted shop .Found myself saying something that I had never said outside of a hospital..." Spare no expense "

How in the heck did you keep that thing so clean and new looking!? I have saws far newer than that and look like they've seen a war zone. I use them every day but still..........

My 026 is a saw that I will never part with. It's a great little saw that I pick up a lot for cutting most of the small stuff. And the story behind it will never leave my memory.

I was helping my uncle remove a huge silver maple, over 5' base with many trunks. It was behind a house and garage and he was using a crane to get it out. About half way through the removal a big trunk spun on the crane and got a branch in the hook forcing it open and the whole thing came loose. An 18" diameter trunk came down from about 30' and crushed him. The crane operator (his brother in law) the homeowner and I cut that tree off of him and thought he was dead. Amazingly he came to and fought us to try to get up. It took 4 guys to hold him and strap him to the board when the EMS arrived. He survived that but broke more bones then not and had a lot of internal damage and head trauma. The saw in his hand at the time was an 026. It was crushed along with him that day.

When he made it out of ICU I told him I would fix the saw for him. So I found a saw with a blown motor and bought it for parts. Used what I needed and got his saw running again. A year later was back it it. Then DexterDay helped me out and took the box of parts from the 2 saws and built the 026 that I have today. That saw runs awesome and it means more to me than any other tool I own.

I will never forget that day, and never get rid of that saw. I owe Dex for that, he did wonders with a box of broken parts. And I got a saw back that runs awesome and has value that money could never replace.

That's the second time tonight that a tear was brought to my eyes.

It was a pleasure my friend. And what you paid me to do it (I asked for nothing in return) ? It meant the world to me ...

Which brings up the 036 you got from me. That one was basically a gift. Because I never forgot all of what you have done for me. (I still owe you)
