Local news just said Portland "officials" were done cutting anyone slack on clearing the sidewalks in front of their homes. Those sidewalks are under feet of hardpacked snow with nowhere to put it. Should be fun to watch the reactions to getting a $300 bill for contractors to clear the walks... bills go to the home owners... :picard:... Betting the city will back off fast.

Calling for 10-16 in my area Saturday into Sunday. Sidewalks Stinny , theres no way your gonna find one of those around here until Late April.
When I approach my home I can usually see my wifes SUV in the driveway , I can't see it until I'm about to pull in now. The snow is nearly to the bottom of my first floor windows now.

Hot topic down here. City says residents are responsible for clearing sidewalks. When a few 10 wheelers move the content of snow from a city street onto the sidewalk, why is it suddenly your responsibility? The banks are easily 4 - 6 feet high here. Without mechanical equipment, it is not happening. Especially with the elderly and physically challenged. We make sure the fire plugs are shoveled out though. People are having a hard enough time shoveling their walks and driveways.

Ray, we had the national guard boys in town today, they were shoveling out fire hydrants and storm drains.

Man I hate losing power! Hope we don't! Supposed to be dry snow so we may get lucky again as to tree damage leading to power outages..

my guess most ok. our problem may show up in march if the pattern does not change. an old fashion ice storm hasn't been seen here in years and with snow covering the NE, it's gonna stay cold. trying to figure out the storm menu, roast turkey or pot roast? have a day

This will be the fourth storm for four weekends in a row. This one could be dangerous with the high winds and cold temps. This weather pattern really needs to change soon.

I feel bad for the people with no alternative heat source. It is days like these that make all the work worth it. Today will be a prep day for the next two. I need to haul some wood in this morning and treat the ice dam on the roof.

I don't see how today's low can be 26ºF when it is -9ºF right now at 7:30AM
    Hi/Lo must be day/tonight

Sunday night is supposed to be even colder
    eesh

Emptied the wood bin outside the door last night so gotta fill that back up this morning.
