While that is a lot of money for the trailer if it is true what swags said about how booked it stays thats a fast ROI. He can pay it off in a year or run it a year and sell it for a profit and buy another and keep the fleet brand new.
I would be willing to wager that you didn't fork over $35 grand to build your awesome hoist though .......... eh ?
Alot of ways to get hurt on that trailer. I bet the Liability premium is 20% of the $35k. I can see the ambulance chasing lawyers licking their chops on that one.
I could save a lot of labor with that, 35 is a little steep, if I would of seen that a couple years ago I could of paid for it on 1 project.
Like many things in the construction industry. Forklifts, cranes, lift trucks, (chainsaws) lots of things can hurt you but common sense and paying attention with things will go a long ways in helping keep things safe.
I bet the guy has sky high liability insurance in the rental biz!!!! I know marty is talking about original manufacturer though.
That's for sure! But ironically, the most expensive part of my project was the RENTAL of the bucket lift to install it. LOL
That's a cool piece of equipment, a forklift would be a better machine for me, wait I do get to use the cabinet shop forklift.
They sure are.... what's killing me is I need it again to get up there and change the pulley to a better setup. Will take 10 minutes, and if I use the same lift it will cost $300. I'm trying to figure out another way... a ladder aint going to cut it. Too high for me, and I need to drill and be able to move around which I really could not do on a 40' ladder. Somebody else up there could do it on a ladder, but that aint me!
Sweet meat !!!! Thats the right unit. That lift/dump is kind of what they used on trucks to deliver coal many moon ago.
Yeah no way that would be only $7500. $35k would buy a few lifetimes of perfect firewood delivered to your door and stacked neatly. I give it another month before a member has one just for firewood.
The reason I guessed $7500 because if the trailer rents for $150 per day, typically the daily rent is 2% of the value of a piece of equipment. So, either the daily rent rate is kept artificially low or some other formula is used to rent that piece of equipment.
I was thinking the rent was a bit low as well considering that price. But it may be more of a volume thing. Lower price to get more days rented to get the word out to more people that this thing is cool. Just a matter of time till every rental place in town has one and that cash cow is gone. Least he could sell some used units to satisfied contractors.
Clemson, Volume rental yes, provided the damage deposit is good and the equipment doesn't get too beat up. Roofers are tough on equipment.
