On his sing line...least on AS he does. His number floats around here.

Think you can get him from youtube or just send him a PM here to Mastermind

I believe he has stopped taking on work?

    He is booked until Oct.

There is a thread on AnotherSite about it.

Seriously? That's nuts if true, he should hire and train some people then! Anyone else do it?

As a person who is in business for himself, there is such a thing as to much of a good thing. It is a good problem to have but can suck when you are in the middle of it and all you can do is put your head down and work harder to try to get to the next client. Easy to get burnt out.

His son n law works with him. He is also building a shop if not done. And he now is booking like 2months and taking a month off. Cause he works 6-7 days a week.

There are other builders. Terry Landrum who does lots of husky and j red. Dozerdan brad smelling but not sure if he does it for clients anymore. mdavlee has been known to do a few and millermodsaws does some, and countless other folks.

Do your homework as to who does what and watch some videos of their saws..there all on u tube. All of them are pretty much on AS. But there also some folks that should not be doing work and r not honest. So do your homework.

Mastermind aka Randy has a huge following and lots here have used him and are very happy.

If or when I were to port a saw Randy would get my saw. If you book him he will tell u when to send the saw so you have minimal down time.

I understand what your saying (loving the work...), but it can be a really bad thing. Bad enough to kill the business. By that I mean, if you are backed up so much it takes months (as with MM), many/most people don't want to, and won't wait that long, we live in a "now" world these days. Order something today and have it tomorrow or your pizzed off. So what can and does happen, others will start doing it, and faster and cheaper, and the waiting list will disappear and suddenly it will be a stretch to fill the week with work. Sounds crazy with the following he seems to have, but I've seen it happen many many many times.

Also, as already mentioned, burn out is easy when your that backed up and constantly fighting the schedule.... and suddenly you don't "love it" anymore.

Anyway, MM got back to me and he's taking work and scheduling for Oct right now. Crazy stuff! Hope his new shop works out, maybe that will help him.....

I don't do very many and usually only one a month if not one every 2 months. Millermodsaws does good work from what he's shown.

In the last year or so he has also got a new "system" for scheduling and said that has made him more efficient as well.

Also most know he does quality work. He also has LOTS of repeat business. Look at DEX!! Haha they are willing to wait for him to get free. They dont want another person to work on their saws.

Thank you! I'm gearing up for the 7910 build thread now. It will be my first go at this saw and you all will see how I work up to a recipe.

Okay, this is what a Stihl dealer told me about the downsizing of the bar between the 660 and 661: According to him the new M-Tronic 661 doesn't have the torque at high rpm's that its predecessors had so to keep them from bogging down in big wood (and to keep from getting complaints I would guess) they downsized the maximum bar length. Anyone buying that or is it a case of:

AMEN!! And that goes for ANY product, not just saws! Especially cars and trucks! It amazes me how car salespeople know nothing about there line of cars! How in the world do they sell the dang things!! There are only a few models of cars available, and they only have a few options (other than color and interior style..), so how dang difficult is it to simply learn what is available on each model, and what isn't??? KRYKEEEEE! Yes, I was just car shopping and could not believe the crap they did not know, and were trying to feed me. I must have help up my iphone with a quote from a website 6 times to one guy. "I said to him: "Dude, do you even have a drivers license?"
