When thistle gets his mind on something he buys it. And several of them. Look at all the mac stuff he has
haha in the good old days I'd spend literally hours of time either behind the wheel or on the phone + a chitload of money on gas looking for stuff.... Sure ordering online/instant pay from checking account may take some the ''fun & romance'' outta the search, but it gives me more time to actually use the things once they arrive & actually is cheaper too. How's that for rationalization,'eh?
Partly nostalgia & just to have for the future. If the Seller isn't being greedy, most of this stuff either New Old Stock or good used goes for no more today than it did 25 to 40+ years ago.And normally a bit less. That makes it a bargain & too good of a deal to pass up. Like with most chainsaws,I can always get my money back later if my tastes or needs happen to change.
According to that 1979 book I received yesterday, there were 19 different profiles available for the moulding head, counting the tongue & groove one which consisted of 2 pair of matching cutters.I've seen a couple more since that weren't shown in that book,so they must've been sold in the 80's or 90's sometime, before the tools were discontinued about 7-8 years back. I have 13 now, hoping to have the whole set eventually. Some profiles aren't easy to find, either because of poor sales or low demand for certain ones.
Arrived Tuesday, havent used it yet.4 sets arrived Tuesday,5 more on the way, that makes 15 different profiles. The literature is dated 7-57. In the 50's there was 16 profiles available, the 70's had 19,max was 25 in the 80's-90's before product was discontinued close to 10 years back.Still lots of the moulding heads & knife sets out there, for a fair price. Far as I can tell, the item stayed the same over all those years, all that changed was the packaging & maybe a few parts numbers.
Here's a real nice late model DeWalt model 925 for sale a couple hours to my northeast. If I already didn't have Dad's 1980 Toolkraft,I'd be giving this guy a phone call...... http://waterloo.craigslist.org/tls/4900199297.html Here's a model 740 not near as nice but less than 30 minutes from me.... http://desmoines.craigslist.org/tls/4839590368.html
