    Just for giggles and grins I used Stihl's website to compare the 660 to the new 661. I see that the 661 has a bit more H.P (.2) than the 660 but the maximum recommended bar size for the 660 is 36" while the maximum recommended bar size for the 661 is reduced to 32". I wonder why, not that it matters to me but knowing why would be interesting.

    That is interesting Fyi they have a 660 over there if thats what your after lol

    The recommended bar length could be based on oil output rather than bHP. Not that we have paid that much attention to that spec. (Rec. Bar length)

    It's interesting too because according to Chad's dyno runs, the 660 doesn't make anywhere near it's 7.0 bHP rating.

    Nope, I've got one with a 32" and full skip chain. (couple of 32 full comp as well) I'm thinking a 362.

    Hmmmm.... I would have thought a saw of that size would have an oil pump to handle a 34" bar, seems like a common size for big tree service people.

    As for the dyno check, was that just one 660 or several to get an average and did he try a 661?

    I've got a 25" on a 362 with full skip, and love that setup. For some reason, and I don't know exactly why but suspect it's because of the way a skip chain has more space/time to remove the sawdust/chips, the full skip chain cuts faster than the regular chain, both sharp, both same RS chain.

    Can anyone tell me what the "Magnum" refers to on the big saws? Is there something different on the "Magnum" motors other than they are bigger.... ?

    I am running my 661 with a 36" and .404
    I pushed in the pin on the adjuster bolt and it oils the 36" just fine.

    Also, there is ALOT more difference between the 2 saws than .2 HP
    My 661 is way ahead of my 066 on power ................ maybe not like that much longer, but last time I used both, the 066 was pretty far behind. Both were running 36" .375/.050

    It's a marketing fib...Stihl is hoping that if you need a bar larger than 32" that you'll step up to 880!

    Even though i got a 441 I am thinking on going ahead and getting a 362 as well. Have to wait a while and save up again plus i dint think I can comvince the wife I need another saw

    Its just a sticker. All 440 or 460 or 660 are magnums! There other saws too that count I just singled those few out

    It was actually 2 saws. A stock one (then done with a DP muffler), then the ported one.

    Just under 5 hp out of a ported 261!!
