It's out of our control just have to ride it out and hope for the best.. Have you tried filling a sock or nylon with the calcium chloride pellets and tossing on the roof? Worth a try I think it could help..
For you folks in a pinch for Calcium Chloride check out a pool/spa store, they may only be open 1 day a week up your way this time of year but they should carry it.
Here is a pic from work looking out from a mechanical room to a generator. My snow removal guys keep this open for access to the gen. The bottom of the soffit is around 7 feet off the ground. To my right it drifts up over to the roof of this room. The snow on the roof is a few feet high. This area was just about completely drifted in except for the rat tunnels to get around. It is freakish walking around drifts over your head.
I worked at a swimming pool shop in college and bought some bags. Not only did it melt the snow on a terribly steep dirt road on a switchback, it was great for dust control on the road after melting.
Today's storm blew out to sea, but now they are increasing confidence for a foot on Sat-Sun. And a possible icy mix Tuesday. I have some things to take care of today but then tomorrow I call out of work and operation snow removal goes into full effect. Gotta get all the roof lines raked and all the drifts moved away.
That's a very good plan. Hope you can get it all done without too many aches n pains. We all oughta look like Guvnor Ahnold by spring...
18" - 24" predicted for Sat - Sun. I sure hope they are wrong. It is getting pretty routine at this point.
Not at the road. It has become snow management. I now throw everything out to the back of the house instead of the front bushes.
