Here is one for you. Bet. You have never seen a pic like this before! I was carrying wood in and just happened to notice that if I open my back door I could take a picture of the complete Hampton installation top to bottom. Here it is.

It'd seem from your pix that you'd need more chimney height. Just saying.

The picture is a little deceiving maybe. It is 13 ft. The Hampton requires at least 12 for my altitude and I thought about putting another section on when I installed it. But I would have had to support the chimney if I had gone any higher (it is about 4 ft above the roof. 5 ft or more requires support. I didn't want to do that if I didn't have to, so decided to try it. Never has been a problem. Plenty of draft. In fact, on very cold windy days, and a load of Ash, I have to use my pipe damper, which I put in just in case. It would have been more difficult to add later. Another section of chimney would have been easy.

And I'd advise you if all is doing well to not change it. We added some chimney height and I'm not sure I like it as well. But, at times it does help so we'll no doubt leave it on. We may have to go to cleaning the chimney more often because with the extra height it cools quickly up there. It's okay though because even if we clean once per year that is better than it was with our old stove. But I doubt we can go 4 years in between from this point on.

Yes and Yes. The old Buck was a slammer install for many years. It was UL Certified and the manual told you to install it that way. But as time passed and many years of lots of creosote, despite how I burned, I kept looking for a better way. Even before the modern flex liners were available, I started sceeming a way to hook it up direct with solid pipe. About that time, they came out with the flex SS liners, and I went for it. It was a miracle! It turned the old Buck into an efficient clean burner. Well, not as efficient or clean as my new little EPA Hampton, but close. I now only clean my chimneys once a a season, and both have very little to clean out. The Buck, admittedly a little more than the Hampton, but not much, and certainly not enough to ever have a flue fire. I always tell people, you can't have a flue fire if there isn't anything in the flue to burn! I used to have "anything to burn" in my chimney, but not anymore. The direct connect SS liner turned the old Buck into a new stove!
