Gotta poop! Mid-30's today. Suprised to see them flying. Lost a nuc. Down to two hives and one nuc. The one hive has an eight frame cluster right now! Hope they dont eat all thier stores in the next two weeks.

TRUTH brutha! We are very "hands off" keepers. Some people call it "lazy." We call it "organic.":D

You could try putting your ear right next to the box and listen for any sounds of life if they are in there you should here something.

About a week or so ago the weather was a bit warmer than usual, so I went back to see what the girls were up to and didn't see anything. I saw a few dead ones outside and began to think the worst, so I put my ear up to the opening about midway and heard them buzzing like crazy. That was a pretty awesome feeling. I was almost convinced we would lose them since this is my first year and we had some crazy cold weather in Nov.

One thing about doing it that way, you will definitely know if they are alive or not. You may not be, but you will definitely know if they are. :faint:
