Stopped by TSC's in Johnston and Coventry RI the past two days. No pellets other than some on layaway at the Johnston store. Didn't ask if they expected any shipments.
When my stash is gone, I am seriously thinking about re-installing the Jotul woodstove. These pellet games are getting old!!
An HD, two Lowes and a Tsc were all out of stock today here in the snowy Hudson Valley. The TSC is going to get a load of Easy Heats some time this week. I've burned a couple of bags and there ok, and correct , a little easy on the heat. The e2 seems to heat just fine though, just doesn't cycle off as much. Saving the sets for real cold weather. Also have a few bags of North Americans that will get torched on the warmer days. Doggy
good question......Saturday we sold about 55 tons of product of various pellet brands (not including coal).......looking at license plates from 3 states. Of course, with the weather, everything is tougher...seems like you have to work 3 times harder to get the same work done. Now, we had several folks come in telling us our competition was telling folks we were out....when we have around 800 tons of product available. I dunno, that seems kind of crappy when, in the rare instance that we actually do run out, I am all too happy to send folks to my competition, just so hey can cover their needs.....fols seem to appreciate the fact that even though I can help them, maybe I can send them somewhere......in any event, judging from the customers, I'd say the pellets might be in short supply, but cant really be sure. As for the boxes, they call and ask if we have product, and they send folks over. The competition who was telling folks we were out, were, in fact, NOT a big box.
Good to hear you are still busy. With only six weeks of real cold left most should be just fine I would think. Then it time for us piggies to restock!
HD here still had FSU a week ago but at over 5.5/bag. Passed on them. Lacretes are in now and until I get into the Genevas in springtime.
A little over 2 ton of good stuff and a ton of Geneva....I should be OK unless we are burning in July
Geneva. Trying them out on blind faith. Supposed to be better than prior. BTW, Lacrete are definitely better than the Spruce Pointe in ash and heat. Those may become my go-to pellet for the cold season.
subsailor , did you ever find the pry bar for scraping? I came across some at a discount store yesterday and can send them to you if needed.
I hope you are speaking for yourself. Burn season is over when Ma Nature says so and not a moment earlier. This is one oinker who will not be buying pellets this year. Still have more than a few to roast.
I have plenty as well. Still haven't touched this year's stash yet, but will shortly. Once about April hits the consumption drops sharply. If there are people that do not have enough to make it till then without scrambling, well shame on them.
I just finished off my old stash and have been into this years for the past week or so. Regarding some not having enough, some are new to this and have no clue as to what they might really need. Others may not have the room or the money to put out all at once. Unfortunately its not like some oil/propane companies that will budget your payment over 10 months. I always budget from my tax return to buy my stash in June.
I understand that some may not have the room. They will have to pay the higher prices that the non boxes charge come this time if year. This is nothing new and well documented that the boxes usually stop bringing them in stock.
