I have an older A.R. that has hardly seen any use. I went to use it the other day and it is just blowing air out the exhaust and not turning. I'm thinking that an O-ring has dried or the vanes in the air motor are stuck from just sitting for several years. Any of you ever had any luck fixing 1 of these things? I looked up parts and diagrams on line and man, there is a lot going on inside of 1 of these things.
Spin it by hand to get it to turn than oil the pizz out of it should work that's what I do when all my air tools do that .
x2 and after getting oil inside tap on wood to loosen vanes. If too rusty might not be worth taking apart, also would depend on brand.
Thanks. I pulled the side plug and put oil directly into the motor the other day and will see if that helped. If not I might try some Sea Foam or P.B. Blaster. It's not a high dollar tool and obviously not 1 that I use often but still hate to give up on it. (Craftsman bought in 1991)
Being a mechanic I have seen lots of damage done over the years,as it is a strong cleaner but leaves no residue protection.I know people use it once a month in their vehicles, swear by it and how great it makes them run.If you need a chemical additive once a month you are masking other problems. It has good uses, just overused,in my opinion.
Thanks...I use it in the spring to help clean the carbs in my mowers, seems to work, but I have know idea what I am doing
Might be just cold . If so get it inside and PB blaster it right through the air hose intake. Squeeze trigger when you do it so oil gets internal. Id prolly set it near wood stove just to evaporate the moisture out of it. I got them all the way up to 1" drive and they all hate cold.
