With a 1kW booster on they splatter all over the place.

ETA: I haven't keyed a mike in decades but I can remember a few folks that ran some additional equipment that came in over land lines and tvs and well being an EE you should get it.

    Hello
Those kickers bounced of the stratosphere at the time for some big 10-4s!
However increasing Sun Spots reck havoc with the low frequency transmissions and the increasing background noise made that fad really fade!

Sunspots ain't particularly numerous at the current time seems this sunspot cycle is turning out to be a bust and some folks are betting they are not going to be particularly visible shortly. Further the next cycle may even be lower to non existent.

Smokey you are right(azz always!) Being a ham radio guy,and very familiar with cb,before and after the frequency changes, most cb amplifiers(illegal) are low dollar builds,no fcc testing, and generally broadcast bad frequencies on many bands(freq). In my house, whenever I broadcast on 80 meters,it kills my 400 mhz wireless weather station, have to do a reset, and everything here is legal and tested, but also why they do not sell 400 units anymore. Also we(ham friends) took test equipment over/under the power lines, and you would be amazed at the rf scatter! eeven though no bpl is allowed here. Also we discovered when power comes back on(after an outage) it can disrupt almost any freq.Just a little ham radio info.

I can remember a few that had to have a smaller kicker to even get the real heater going fun was had by all when one of those setups decided to fire up. The sad part is there was no need for any of it. My stock Cobra 135 was all I needed to talk all over the place. But that was then and this is now. I am anything but a luddite. I just don't want to deal with the fallout of a 13 year old hacking the system which if done correctly you won't even know it until you come home to a mess.

I have a few interconnected things here at the house but it is nothing that can breath fire or cause a freeze up if hacked. Just so everyone understands my system spends a bit of time acting as a server, in fact it has been known to act as multiple servers. Spent a few years playing in the wacky wild web world. I just don't need the aggravation and don't want others to go down the slope and get zinged.

Kind of understand your last post.Bottom line is I can show electrical interference screwing up any device in your house, and unregulated, regulateded untested devices doing it.I have seen so many cfl bulbs causing so many problems it is crazy.Over the last year I have been trying to reduce my electrical load, have 2 boxes of equipment to give away but nobody wants them. And as having a stove/heater/communication on a cell phone/internet,that means something else on 24 hrs a day?Something I am doing away with.I am a luddite at heart but also have to live in the real world, but at my terms.

I understand your point. I never got an x10 or similar system since I heard of the problems. Since I am doing this for a biz it is to my advantage to know and understand it. I did run in to 2 issues in the setup but I have a friend that has had good luck with his system. The technology is much better and since they got the door lock companies and blue line electric panel energy monitor and other companies to join in, it seems like a very serious effort and may be quite popular.
Just turned the heat on in the shop. As you can see it is 39 deg in there and 3 deg outside this morning under sunny skies!

That is the nice part of the Iris System, you can also do lights a stream video for free with the basic service.
An Iphone live feed of the pellet stove is something many people are interested in so that can be an easy next project now. :)

IP cams are coming down in price. I may get another one to monitor the stove when we're not home.

Agreed. I would advise against connecting any thing to the internet that you don't want to lose control over. I have worked in IT long enough to see everything is secure until it isn't.
