Sure am. I was just thinking of how they use the word "jackpot" in describing snow accumulations. Jackpots are supposed to be a good thing. I suppose for the plow guys it is.
Wow, you guys sure are getting THE snow dumps this year. How much have you had so far? And... another 20" coming? Whew.
I cant take it anymore. All Ive done the last 2 weeks is shovel, snowblow and try to get to work. uncle uncle!
We are in the 2-6" zone. This is suppose to be a long slow snow event. I believe it doesn't end until sometime Tuesday. Without winter, we'd have not reason to hoard and burn our wood stoves.
Cool video Ray.... what happened there causing the botched takeoff, did the catapult fail or something?
I believe the wrong info may have been entered into the cat so plane was launched too slowly and went into the drink.. I was in the catapult & elevator electrical shop (C&E) but mainly worked in the jet service gang.. I worked on all the fueling stations, radar power supplies, helo start stations, 400HZ power supplies, etc.. We were considered the "elite" ships electricians and I only got selected because I also had 4 years of vocational electrical school.. Shop was located on the 04 level and our ceiling was the flight deck.. Shop was directly located on edge of ship with instant flight deck access.. Loved watching planes launch and land..
Blizzard was about 22+", last storm around 12" and this storm, I guess we will see. The bad thing is that we have not really had daytime temps above freezing for quite a while. There is ice and hard packed snow everywhere.
The cities are really feeling it aren't they? Without any snow melt, they gotta haul every snow flake away in dump trucks. Sounds like you've actually had around the same amount of snow as we have. I thought the news had said you guys had gotten a lot more. I'm bettin' you're OK with not having any more tho...
We went from pretty much no snow to the blizzard of very light, loose snow. We did not have a few small storms to make a base for the sled guys. Ice fishing? Not now. It has been one of the best ice seasons in years. We started with clear, snow free, thick ice. Blizzard hit and put the kibosh on much. I drive a few lakes on the way to work, and there are no holes or tracks out there. If the sled guys get out on the lakes, then we have a packed path. Finding safe parking and climbing over the 4-5' banks is not for me. Also the unknown snow depth to shovel out for the traps. No thanks.
I hear Boston has some streets that have buried cars on them as recent as a few days ago. Our city is removing the banks at the edge and corners. They are doing well considering what there has been. Some areas, I believe down where Raybonz is, may have had a little more than us. Out in Worcester, Ma, they have more, higher elevation than these parts. But yes, I have had enough. A weekly storm, of at least a foot every week, is getting old.
This pattern needs to break. Although I want melting, not rain with the snow loads on roofs around here. Also the icicles are insane up here. We have a lot of Victorian homes and the icicles are around 8 feet tall or is it long? I am surprised soffits aren't getting ripped off left and right. You can also see the ice dams on the roofs and icicles running down the siding on homes with heat loss. No relief in sight.
Got back from Maine last night, the banks were over my head. Mall parking lot has mountains that will last well into June. And it was cooooold Friday night ~2F. Made me remember how much I missed scrapping off a car prior to going anywhere
Hang in there fellas......I hate to say it but I'd LOVE for us to get a foot or so of snow, around every two weeks. We used to get storms like that all the time here, now they are a total rarity! One of the reasons I refuse to buy a newer snowmobile. I can't justify the cost with all the more snow we get anymore.
