professional install?

    so I was told by the guy at the place I bought my Harman they try to leave a little gap like that so it sucks in some room air witch is mixing with the cold air and that helps cut down the condensation and the mechanism inside there does freeze up.
    any thoughts?

    90% BS. Older european stoves had a built in air gap inside the stove,to be sure of room venting.Got to remember their stoves went into usually smaller and better built living spaces.Became a thing of the past.Generally any stove that has the built in air bleed is a cheaper stove.Once in a great while certain installs may cause things like woofing.European stoves are now generally installed with a valve to shut when not burning.Stoves that need the bleed have it built in.Once in very few installs may have a strange problem that this may fix,but it is extremely rare,and there are other ways around it.Now if you lived in the great north and had a small oak it can freeze over,with many days of extreme cold.Harman stoves almost never have these types of problems.Sometimes you do see a harman install that has too much or too little draft.Hook it up properly,per harman manual.

    Backwoods Savage is gathering fire burning myths. Though this is pellet. Is that gap now a myth in the US and new regulations?

    Don't know,have only seen/heard of that type of poor install a few times,if the stove needed it it will be built in.It fixed somebodys strange problem one time so some people must think it is ness.Funny thing is it would never pass inspection.

    Sounds like a terrible idea to me. It might work in the BS way that they claimed, but it's also a nice spot for an air leak into the house when the stove is off. Not to mention the mosquitoes and other small critters that would inevitably find their way into the house.

    I use a straight shot from the Harman thimble to the OAK inlet of my P68 with no gaps/tight fit and no issues since 2009.
