Going to try to get my rearend to town on Monday for our store. The SD card for my camera is MIA at the moment. Also always need batteries for the lil ones toys.
Does it have something to do with the fact that they want your full name and address when you purchase 2 double A batteries or they want to sell you an extended warranty on a $20 thermometer?
I'd heard quite some time ago that this was coming. Perhaps it is time to change some of the decision makers?
its to bad , like others have said went there a lot many years ago , last time i was there ( about a year ago ) it looked like just a phone store ( i know nothing about nor do i have a cell phone ) i was looking for a simple battery radio. there have been several new england chain stores close in the last several years as the national chains have arrived here , i first saw target ,hd , petco , walmart etc, down south long before here.
Honestly I amazed this dint happen years ago. I used to go to them long ago for electronic part needs for hobby projects, but lately they rarely have exacty what I need in stock... and we happen to have much better local electrics supplier near my work. And lets be honest there just are not that many electronic hobbiest around anymore that need to go in and buy resistors and capacitors... Its not like the 50s/60s when lots of kids where buying Heathkit and Dynaco and DIY building their own stereo's in the basement. I never though they actually made any profit selling things like phones and consumer electronics considering the many other competitors in that biz with better selection.
Sadly the internet with sites like Amazon, Ebay, New Egg and a long list of others, Radio Shack has become a dinosaur. They've not kept up with the times. Cell phone store indeed. A while back I went to purchase a plug system they sold which offered many different adapters for sell phones and other electronic devices. It was a great idea. However; not long after purchasing man of my devices would to charge properly from them. Sadly that was the last product I purchased from them.
Our radio shack literally closed between 3 and 4 days ago. It was open a couple days ago, like Thursday, and I went to shopko next to it yesterday, and the radio shack was completely empty, sign even was gone. They announced store closings last March. On Thursday, they declared bankruptcy. By Saturday our store was like it never existed.
I think radio shack was a clear case of poor decisions by upper management and them not listening to the people actually doing the work.
Radio shack might have survived if they rolled with the times. They made some subtle changes over time but not quite enough to make it.
