The HD ones say they do. I'm sure it's the same model#. It probably needs to be adjusted properly. Just don't ask the Lowes guy that didn't tighten the hose fittings, or the motor bolts to help you with adjusting it. Lol

That many problems, that long to start, loose engine, leaking lines?

I'd take it back. End of story.

I paid more for my splitter and if it took more than 9 pulls to start a new splitter? I would have stopped pulling and I am a very mechanically inclined person.

I guess I am happy that your happy, but your posts were pretty depressing to read. No lie. I'd would be highly disappointed in that type of build quality.

And there are several here with that same brand that have had none of those problems.

I have 30 days to return no questions so tomorrow I am going over it in full again. Honestly I was about ready after pulling my arm out of the socket but then it started to run great?? Had me somewhat confused. I think the idiots that put it together should be retrained!

I am very happy over all but..... It will get put through the ringer tomorrow and I'll see what happens. I just REALLY don't want to drive back an 1.5 hours to return it. It's only 35 miles or so but our roads are horrendous up here and I couldn't get much over 30 the whole way home. I'm hoping it's finished assembled and runs good tomorrow.

Pete congrats on the splitter i got the 27ton on black Friday at Menards for 800 bucks with a100 dollar mail in rebate. At that price i couldn't afford not to! You can hardly find used 27tons for that price. So far i love having it but we will see how it stands the test of time.
One note for you to beware though! The bearings are rated for road use but only speeds up to 45 mph! I'm almost positive i read that in my manual so please save yourself the headache and double check before towing it down the interstate! Better safe than sorry!
Best of luck with the splitter! The worst thing about mine is the log catch design it took a few handfuls of bolts to get it all assembled, pizz poor design IMO luckily I'm a welder and will be re engineering and welding it solid abd bolting it on along with a better engine protection design with it.

Yes high speed on a splitter these days means 45. Our roads are awful this time of year so 45 isn't even doable.... They defiantly aren't meant to do even that with a solid axle mounted directly to the oil tank. Stupid idea IMO! Luckily it won't be leaving the yard again or going down the road without being loaded into the trailer.

Also before buying mine i read a million reviews 90percent were great reports, also 90percent said only problems were hoses leaking at the connections (easy fix anyways) and a few that complained about the engine not being tightened down. Only two things that i found to be consistent over many many many reviews bring read

Pallet Pete congrats on the splitter.

That said, I must say I am no fan of big box stores. There are several reasons for this. First, John Deere and many of the tools/power equipment sold at Home Depot and Lowe's are made specifically for them. For instance, the John Deere mower's you would get from them are considerably different than ones you would purchase from a John Deere dealership. In the town north of us, there is a Home Depot and a place that use to be a John Deere dealership. People gravitate to Home Depot or Lowe's as they buy in bulk and get a better price point. As well as my earlier statement that many power equipment suppliers build lower level spec equipment to Home Depot and Lowe's in order to keep the price down.

The John Deere dealership I mentioned refused to work on the substandard John Deere's sold at Home Depot. In a long drawn out battle, the local store lost their dealership as a result.

The second thing I do not like about these big box stores is that they do not have a service department to work on the power equipment that you purchase from them. Your local dealerships of Arien's, Husqvarna, Stihl, and many others not only sells the power equipment, they also have service departments that are specialized in fixing what they sell.

Let me tell you a true story that happened to me after hurricane Sandy. As you can tell from my details, I live in southern RI about a mile and a half away from the ocean as the crow flies. When hurricane Sandy hit, we did not get the level of damage as New Jersey and other areas, but we did end up with no power. The day after, I set out to see if I could find a generator. I drove around for hours. My first stops were local stores in our town, and then expanded out. Not all stores had power, and many didn't have their phone lines working. After a three hour search, I finally drove over to the place I purchase most of my power equipment from. There phone was out all day, and I wasn't sure they would be open. Wish I had started there as I could have saved myself the three hour tour of RI.

Pat's Power had one generator left when I arrived. Their credit card machines were down all day, and they were still moving the generators. The owner decided to allow people to purchase them and merely take their credit card information, and they would submit the purchase once the machines were up. I know this seems minor, but you'd never see a box store do this.

Anyhow, I get the generator home, and my dad had some gas for me to us. He lives in a detached mother-n-law apartment on my property. After a while of running, the generator died. I played with it for a while, but couldn't get it to run. Now, Pat's Power was closing at 5 that day, and it's 4:30. I loaded the generator onto the truck and back to Pat's. It took them all of 5 minutes with it to tell me there was water in the gas, and that the carburetor needed to be rebuilt. Ugh. How much was this going to cost me? I asked if they could fix it, and if I could pick it up in the next day. By this time it's 5pm. He said not to worry, they would work on it right then, and I could take it home. It was 5:40 by the time they were all said and done. Pat came out with the generator and told me it was all set and that it was no charge.

I agree with not being a huge fan of big box stores and i try to but locally front small businesses when i can but unfortunately it's not always possible. I'm proud to say i haven't spent more than 100bucks at wall Mart in three years. It's my very last resort.
