Warmed up to 0 this morning with light snow ending later this a.m.. No warm-up in sight for @ last a couple of weeks. Loaded the stoves up @ 9 last night. Woke up to 71 degrees in the cave and both had great coal beds. Threw a small split in each one and they are happily burning. Will load them up for the day with some beech, maple and ironwood. Everyone have a warm safe day.
9 degrees outside 72 degrees inside after a 9 hour burn with Hickory. Throwing in a mix of Maple and Hickory as soon as the coals burn down a bit.
Got down to 19 last night. Burning pine. House dropped to 72 overnight and the cold woke me up. Southerners be not cold tolerant!
72 overnight temps are extremely rare around these parts. Even during the hottest spells (for here) it usually drops to the 60s overnight. That makes for a miserable sleep, too warm for sure.
72 inside. 19 outside. I just realized you are talking inside! When I saw drops to the 60s overnight I thought you meant outside! I don't remember 72 overnight this time of year here outside, but we do get days in the high 60s a few times a month even in Jan-Feb, with overnight in the 40s
I spent the morning moving snow banks and cleaned the pellet stove at camp. While the stove was heating up I shoveled and cleaned up around there. I spent the afternoon clearing an area for a lay down yard, felling a couple trees, cutting them into sawing logs, and cutting the rest into firewood. So I was out in the cold all day and it was great! I tired now. And I have to bring my son to basketball practice after we eat dinner.
I saw this yesterday and said 'oh no'. It got here this morning, -20. We are at +4 now, and the skiers are pouring into the state past our house for the weekend (about a 10:1 ratio of cars going north versus south on a Friday evening this time of year).
Sitting at 22º outside and 73 in, high teens tonight then all the way up to close 40º tomorrow and I hope I can get the truck through the snow to get a load cut. Heck at those temps if I can't maybe I'll get the speedo out and open the pool....LOL
Unbelievable we hit 60 today. No snow on the ground. Think this area is headed for a drought. Burning mix of 2x4s, uglies, pallets and fence post. Need to save my lodge pole. Mid 30s outside 71 inside.
23 outside, got the fireplace going well on 2-4" elm and hickory branches. I have not heard the furnace kick on at all since I got home.
Looks like 12º here right now. Ash and Pine and some pellets gassing in the boiler. A little snow coming down. I guess starting tonight and through Monday we are suppose to get some snow here. I'm not sure how much, but it looks like a total of 4-7 maybe. I just cleaned everything up.
