While at a local dealer today, I picked up a 3/8 file guide. All the reviews were positive and I thought I'd give it a try. My first impression was great. It is easy to use and even a novice can get good results quickly. I maintain my chains often and they only needed a couple passes with the 2 in 1 to do it. The neat thing is it adjusts the rakers at the same time, taking very little material.
Everything considered...I think it is a quality tool for the money

No dealers around here stock them. For that matter look at you funny when you ask.

$34.95 for the guide. I figured it would pay for itself in no time at all.

I thought it was a pretty good deal from the dealer.
Amazon and eBay couldn't compete :p

I have read that they are only good for full comp chains and will not work on a skip chain, Is that true?

Yep...True The guide rides on the links to maintain the raker height. Sure is a slick setup for full comp though :)

I use mine on skip chain as well as full comp. Only one of the guide bars will be on a tooth but with the wide handles it is easy to keep it level.

They are normally $40 so Woodchucks dealer gave him a deal!

They are made specific to chain sizes: .404, 3/8, 3/8lp/pico However I have one for 3/8" & use it for everything. Works well enough for me.

I bought one a while back and even I can use it with great results! :D Shop around because some other company, I don't remember which one, makes them for Stihl. I've seen them other places and they were blue and white rather than orange and white..

Been using mine for about a year. Really like it. Bought one for a coworker for Christmas, $32.50 from my local stihl dealer.

I wanted to buy one two weeks ago but my Stihl dealer was out of stock. I did end up walking out with a brand new ms 362c, though.

Well the " one saw" philosophy wasn't cutting it anymore. I get pinched too often. Figured that the 362 and 260 pro would make a good combo.

Well I found out that I was getting a grand back from a health care surplus at work. So I did what any red blooded American man would do and I went down to the Stihl dealership and spent it! Man, I love that place. They also sell Silky handsaws, woodstoves, Scag ztr's, and all kinds of other shiny things that I must have. Best store ever.
