A job position I accepted in the 1990's was actually a replacement for a woman killed by a snowplow that ran a stopsign.
So many questions. Is there a person under the snow who happened to be riding the bike? Last time I rode a bike in the snow was when I had my paper route over 45 years ago.
Not sure if the bike is damaged, doubt there is a person there but I didn't look. It's during school hours so I have to assume a kid left it at the bus stop and was at school when it was plow wd under.
Not saying he was right to do this but it may have been completely accidental. Could have been watching cars. Was it at the crest of a hill or turn? I've had my mailbox knocked over a couple times.
It was at the corner of two flat roads, one being Main Street. But in a town of less than 300 Main Street doesn't exactly get busy.
I thought the metal frame was the bike rack..... And the snow guy threw the bike to clear under there, then plowed the bike under.
I'm not defending the guy buuuuuut... As a plow truck driver, I have moved (with the plow) many a trash can, bike, trash bag, garden hose, wheel chocks, skateboards, shopping carts, and I'm sure much more that I have forgotten. It's not my job to clean up after everyone else....just to clean snow. If your kid (or parent too lol) is too lazy to move it, I am also. I have a job to do and it's not return the bike your kid left laying in the street. Fwiw, it's probably fine unless he was trying hard to be a jerk and damage it.
On the lighter side, there is a designated day for the plow drivers around here, unbeknownst and unofficial, of course, called mailbox hockey day! Usually towards the end of the season....about the same time cabin fever is at it's peak!
Yep, I get some looks that could kill. I'm sorry you (John Q. Public) just finished clearing out your driveway but my job is to open the streets so emergency vehicles can get through and folks can get to work, school, doctor's, etc. I don't intentionally plow someone in. In fact I make an effort to inconvenience as few people as possible, but the public thru-ways have to come first. I know that may be easy for me to say since I say since I have a 7' plow on the front of 2 trucks but it wasn't always that way. I had to shovel out the end of the driveway at one time too.
Amen brother! Looks that kill, snowballs and shovels thrown at the truck, flipped off, roadway blocked to keep you from "plowing them in", physically threatened, you name it, I've been thru it. I had a driver get a gun pulled on him last winter because a homeowner felt we were "plowing them in". It's sad when you have to carry a gun to do your job.
