It's -5 heading to -12 tonight so we'll go with the Yellow Birch in the wood stove and click on the pellet stove in the other corner.

I think we received about a foot of snow, I plowed twice so the driveway is good to go.

One of these nights I'll throw the chains on the front tires of the Rhino an plow around the stacks again.

-5 just before hitting the hay. Going to load boiler with some Ash, some Pine, and some mixed blend pellets. We will see how it does tonight with the cold temps. Hopefully 7 hours.

Right at -12 on the back porch this morning. I woke up about 4 and checked the boiler and it was down to about 7" thick of red hot coals. The Pine gives great big coals that look really cool when the boiler is running and has them all lit up bright. I added some more pellets and Pine cord wood to get it through to 7. It be cold, schools delayed two hours.

Lil woman got me out of bed at 5:30. Front door wouldn't open.
Ice dam on roof has water running down a rafter right over mud room door and between the door jam and door and strike plate. SOLID ICE. WTF ???!!!
Some beating and prying and all was good. Looks like an ice dam intervention today !:headbang:

Must have slept on it just right I was out shoveling much more carefully today. Used the bucket on the tractor to scrape off 5 inches of frozen slush with a half inch of solid ice. The snowblower just kept riding up on top of it. Nasty crap. Worried about breaking a shear pin so grabbed the tractor. Was gonna need it for down near the street, the street plow push was frozen solid. Nice sunny day got up to +22ºF. Looked at the pile of maple logs I've got to cut. Plowed out around the pile.

We had -25.4 on the Radio Shack Special this morning, the basement was 78, the living room was 67 and the sleeper was 65.

The floor in the living room was 73 and the floor in the sleeper was 70.

We had both the wood & pellet stove going last night.

Hanging at about 25º and only expected to go to 20º tonight. Snow moving in late tomorrow. Upstairs at 73 right now, just opened the air up about 30 min. ago to burn down the coals before loading with a mix of what ever I grab.....have red oak, beech, hickory, ash, sugar maple and cherry in close to the stove.

Were at -16F this morning. NWS said to expect a low of +5F tonight, but the thermo just passed -7F heading in the wrong direction. I've started leaving snow over the parts of the yard where the waterline runs to the barn - I would be very sad if that froze! Had 12" of new snow yesterday, and expecting another 3-5" over the next two days. Just getting ready to put in the load of wood for the night.
