Well we ended up booking a trip with my travel agent friend. We'll be sailing on the celebrity infinity round trip from vancouver. It had a few more stops than the seattle trip with more time on land. Also it takes the inside passage so it's more of a scenic route. We were able to get an all inclusive package for a fairly decent price after looking at other cruises. We booked a deck 8 room with a balcony and we sail june 19,2016 We would've loved to do a cruise/tour but just couldn't be away from home for that long.
Well you won't see our place on the way up to Alaska but you might well see it on the way down. On the way up it is about 4:00 AM so they go behind Malcolm Island but on the way down it will be about 1:00 to 4:00 PM. If they aren't in a hurry then they will come down past Pulteney Point and Port McNeill. Sorry, they don't stop here. I don't think the ship will fit in the harbour.
You will have a great time. My wife thought of doing a cruise but we did a DIY tour instead. We flew to Ketchikan, which is the first port of call for the cruise ships, and then spent 2 weeks getting to Juneau, traveling from place to place by float plane and the ferry system. A bit of a different flavor to a cruise tour.
The Millennium Class is a great ship size. I'll be on the Millennium on 15March 2015 The drink packages are a rip-off if you ask me but if you think you'll cruise again and cruise again with Celebrity check out their Future Cruises Program before you leave the ship while cruise person is in their office. The $100 deposit is refundable and it has a few worthwhile perks that can be taken advantage of sometimes.
The current promotion that celebrity is running is called the 1-2-3 package. Since we booked the concierge class we were able to take advantage of the offer. It includes the drink package, paid gratuities and a $300 room credit. How many times have you cruised celebrity?? Thanks for the tip!
Future Cruises is on board only. Equinox , Solstice , Silhouette x2 , Constellation , Summit Elite gets ya perks too. There's no self-serve laundry on Millennium nor Solstice class ships so pack accordingly as their dry cleaning and laundry service is a bit pricey. Celebrity usually has an older crowd on board , but I haven't done the Caribbean nor Alaska and I would at least bring a business suit if they have a formal night on the itinerary as there will be a lot of passengers wearing a tux/gown on that night. Standard attire for main dining room is a suit every night, but I've worn just a formal looking button down sweater and not felt out of place . For a seven day and trying to do it with a carry on I'd bring just a nice zip/button front sweater. If you want any-time-dining (Select Dining) don't wait until you get on board to make the choice as on many cruises there are only so many seats in the Main Dining room set aside for it. Concierge you get decent bathrobes. Looks like the Future Cruises open booking is now called Cruise Later and is non-refundable , but still worth spending a few minutes at the Future Cruises kiosk which should be in the same lobby as the purser's and help desk..
