I would think that if VP specked Motul 800, they wouldn't be able to ask for a different color.
Maybe 710 is blue, or maybe VP is actually using Lucas ???

710 is a reddish color. I bought a pint and used it once to try.

OK, so we are narrowing it down to a select few.

I suppose I could run the VP 2 cycle by itself @ 50:1 and see if it smells like Lucas ??
I just don't want to run anything I have on 50:1 ................ too bad I got rid of the little Mac 110. I am going to have to scour around some to find a willing victim .................. err, I mean willing candidate

I m not even running 50:1 on my work saw. They buy us premix canned fuel. I add oil to it to make it 32:1!

Never any blown up saws or carbon problems with the Husqvarna XP oil. Mixed in the Ratio Rite cup at between 38:1 to 40:1. No complaints here ! Maybe when i run out of this XP in a couple years... Ill try something else. Probably not tho :) Creature of habit ! image.jpg

I tried them all now, and the VP 2 cycle smells like when I mix Lucas with VP 4 cycle ................ Unless another oil comes along that looks and smells like Lucas does, I am putting some money on my guess that VP is using Lucas in their 2 cycle.

    Motul 800 ...... Red ...................................... smell #3
    R50 ................. Lighter shade of red ........... smell #2
    K2 ................... Orange/red ......................... smell #5
    H1R ................ Brownish/orange ................ smell #1
    Echo ............... Brownish/tan ...................... smell #6
    Lucas .............. Blue ...................................... smell #4

I used a borescope to look into the cylinders after I ran at least 600mL through each piece of my equipment. H1R and R50 seemed to be cleaning the tops of the pistons as they got more and more used, and I honestly couldnt tell any difference in oil coatings between 800, K2, and Lucas. The Echo seemed to have the least oil film, but there was still a good coating with it.

I would run H1R exclusively if it wasnt for the lean condition it put some of my non adjustable carb equipment in, so unless the Saber Pro knocks me off my socks, it looks like I will be running R50. I liked the way the non adjustable carbs ran with R50, they lost their hesitation that they had with H1R.

I will run them more to see how they do after several tanks, maybe some would clean better with longer use. I also want to try them in one or two pieces of equipment @ 40:1 ...................... I was out cutting in 12 Deg F this morning, I cant wait for spring !!

Also; the VP has much better starting and smoother power compared to the 110 Low lead CAM 2 that I used to use ! All carbs had to be leaned out with the switch from 110 CAM 2 to VP94, that means more cuts per tank !!!

I use straight gas with a minimum ethanol content of 15% and a maximum octane of 85.

Anybody want to buy some slightly used saws?

My kids were riding all day and the bike that had the Motul 800 started to develop a miss ......... found a kernel of carbon that had loosened up and made its way between the ground and the electrode on the plug .................. looked into the cylinder with the borescope and saw a rather clean piston top. This piston was all black when I looked last weekend (it was previousely run on nothing but Echo synthetic). Seems the 800 cleaned the top so much, that carbon was just flying off !!!

Give away the K2 and keep the 800 !!!!!!!!
PS .............. the bike that was running R50 - well lets just say that the other bike riders wanted to be behind the R50 bike !!!! They loved its smell ........... its growing on me too !!!

800 is good stuff. Too bad it costs almost twice what the Klotz does.

Some of use dont worry about such stuff. Good ole KL-200 has never showed signs of any separation even when setting for a year or so. I have full faith in the stuff with ethanol fuels. Plus it was what was used in the mix on my alky/nitro saws. Goooooood stuff.

I wont use r50 with ethanol or super because it is just bad stuff IMO. Only original for now.

When the head tech at Klotz says make sure to not use r50 with any ethanol greater then 10% I listened. Not taking the chance being you never know what the pump gas % is at around here.
