Finished with 2 more trailer loads this morning of dead ash. I had a bunch skidded out in the field and needed to get it cleaned up before maple season and mud. Decided to take a few pics of my stash , I don't think I will be burning high moisture firewood in the near future !
If you really look hard you can spot the large rounds of open growth elm that is on its way to the guy with the red milkcrate. Have fun Dennis.
Nice work wishlist! You are on your way to the Dennis plan! I am still trying to get my priorities straight.Working on it though!
Does the Dennis plan consist of 8 years or so ahead? Lol I have an oak that blew down and is next on my hit list. Its off the ground as you can see but sure would look better c/s/s out in the open .
Keep at it and you'll get there. The truck will haul some wood, 3/4 ton gaser, only issue is it gets 10mpg doing it . The wood to the left of the truck is 4 rows , 60 + feet long . It's mostly oak and hickory. This year will be the 4th summer , should be good to go. Those 2 rows behind this wood that are stacked " zap style" , is one big sugar maple that blew down this summer at a relatives . Its green so will give it a few more years.
That is a nice sled wishlist! I have considered making one of those after seeing this for years from the savage one. But I process my wood into rounds in the woods instead. My trails are fairly narrow, but I am working on making them wider and straighter. I think that will help in the thinning of this woods in the long run. Lots to do! Like another member said, I forget which one , but it would be easier on the tractor if I was using a trailer or sled and pulling the larger quantities of wood out at one time and not using the loader. Who was that anyway? When we were talking about carrying logs out with the forks? Jack Straw ?
Took inventory today...."I am a hoarder"...(applause from all members of the forum...) Yup, Wishlist, you're in the right place! The first step on the road to recovery is admitting there is a problem! BUT, I don't think this site offers ANY steps to recovery of that problem!!!
Nice job! Feel great when you start seeing that much wood adding up - the whole process of wood burning becomes so much better when you get far ahead - no more worrying about getting enough wood and the pleasure of running a stove with dry wood - it's all good! Cheers!
Dave, the round building used to be an aviary. I built it about 15 years ago and used to raise exotic pheasants. This style is very popular in England. It works great for a wood shed, has openings on all sides and is 20 ft across. The batten siding is white oak so it should last a long time. When I fill it in the fall, 2 years worth, I neatly stack it about 10 feet high.
Geeze, I was thinking of loading up some nice pine and bringing it so you could use it boiling sap. Nice stash wishlist. That's a nice looking dray too.
You know me Dennis, I'll take it! Tried to give away a quart of syrup in the other thread but Gasifier got everybody confused with the wood I.D. Its my second dray, first one had a manufacturing defect and didn't last a day. Dray is getting buried in the the woods with all this snow were getting. I'll find it and haul out the oak soon.
