-15 this morning, snow was squeaking underfoot nicely. Expecting another 1-3" tomorrow, and still at least another week of lows near or below zero. Got some 'shorts' in the firebox because my wife will be home to reload as needed. Saw some nice toys at the VT Farm Show last night that would be fun to have, but just came home with a few magazines.

Snow is supposed to be coming in around 1 PM, calling for 3 -6 inches. From the appearance of the radar, it is real this time. Solid front of snow is already way past Toronto...looks like maybe near Port Hope. If it gets to 6 inches, that will be by far the most we have had this winter, and will result in the (only) second plowing of my road. Cold out now, but looks like a window around 11 AM when the temp and wind chill will make it not too bad on the hands bringing in firewood. So, I'll bring in enough to heat for three days or so then. Then take Artan for a nice long walk. Then start a beef stew on the woodstove. Haven't made stew in a long time, and with this weather forecast seems like the perfect time to have a nice smelling stew bubbling away on the stove....

Well, I found the snow we were supposed to get.
It's in my yard, on my roof, on the Jeep. Only about 3" so far, but still coming down at a steady clip.
Should continue for a while longer, so I'd guess may 5" at the most.
About 25 out, 68 in here when I got up at 7:23.
The 30 is in process of re-warming the house. I have coffee, the dogs have been out, and I'm here on FHC......life is gooder.

All is fine here. Dealing with the cold successfully so far. Been off the forum more than usual this season mostly due to some of the changes we are dealing with having a child away at college, and paying for it! Took time off to drive stuff to the college, visited for 5 days another time and spend a bit of time at local airports. I am pleased to be able to do this stuff for my child, but it ain't easy. I have found myself scoping out the property down the road where I have scavenged wood before. They have heavy storm damage in the woods. Those woods are full of Ash, Cherry and Osage. Frozen ground means viable access with the Kubota. I shall return!

We had -6 this morning with the same temps inside, basement 79, living room 70 and the sleeper 66.

We did get up to 38 today which felt nice, we'll be getting real cold again so it's time we push in more wood.

    Next four nights: -14, -8, -17, -18. F.
At the moment the wind is roaring.
February is coming in like a lion.
Only got maybe 4 inches of snow. Was easy to shovel.
Continues to be remarkably low snowfall this winter.
Put a good size load of Ash in the box last night. 7:30 AM it is burning slowly with a nice blue flame, both stovetop ad flue temps slightly over 400, and the house a quite comfortable 67. Not bad for the overnight, with these temps and this wind. I'm pleased.

The wind was up pretty good here last night.
Got down to about 2 as of this morning, and the house was down to 62 when I got up.
I forgot to turn on the DV last night. Also forgot to setup the coffee maker last night.
Going to be chilly today, so I turned on the DV, and got a good Oak load going. I'll leave the DV on for a couple hours to warm the back of the house quicker.

    66 in this morning. Brrrr.
    Oak and beech .
Good fetch off the lake. 4" yesterday and 8" over nite. Erie is about froze over so I'm guessing most of this is developing over Huron and dumping here on the plateau .

25 degrees this morning with about 5 inches of new snow. The same old temps in the house this morning, we just used the wood stove last night.

We're in for a cold snap so I'll finish the plowing and then clean the Pellet Stove pipe so it's clean for the rest of the year, once we get a small warm up I'll clean the Wood Stove pipe.

We did push in some wood this morning and before Monday we'll be pushing in some Ironwood.

Holding at freezing currently, but heading down tonight substantially. We have a high wind warning starting later this afternoon through tomorrow morning with gusts up to 50mph. (WC -20)Heavy snow moving in Sunday night through Monday. The forecasters are predicting 6+

Still pushing the pin oak through the stove in the morning and overnight. Just started pulling from the wood shed, which will get us through the rest of the season. Stay warm!

WoW, these gusts are insane. They are coming in waves, getting stronger after each set. Glad I had the trees removed when we did.

8-10" of fresh snow yesterday followed by really strong winds and sucking down to 0 now and -18 tonight. Cleaned out both stoves today and am feeding them both some really nice Beech. Steady @ 75 here now. Glad that's happening as I am feeling a cold or something else in the making.

Looks like I was in the balmiest spot on the NWS map above. We hit 33 today, eaves were dripping when I got home, but the temp was headed back down. Cleaned the stove well, and got it back up to temp, then out to feed the cows and plow some snow in the wind. About 12 degrees now and still falling.
