Someone asked about the heater today, so I thought I'd check it out.
Looked at the tag, and it's a 15,000 btu unit. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the blower had some buildup on the fins. Upon even closer inspection, the fins were almost completely filled with hair (dogs) and dust.:headbang:
Cleaned all that out and I still need to oil it, but man, I had no idea. Should really kick out some air now.
While inside the cabinet, I vacuumed all the crud and noticed quite a bit of airflow through some cobwebs. Outside air. Cold, outside air.:hair:
I think I may have found my cold air intrusion from the back of the house. Most of it anyway.
When it gets a little warmer, time to get that sealed up. Maybe I can get my brother over to adjust gas flow, and check it over before next winter.
I'll take pics when I get to that point.

    Direct vent...nat. gas.
Says LP on the tag, but must have been converted, because I have nat. gas.

    I haven't gotten to that point yet.:D
Actually, I took a couple, but they were very blurry.
The tag is sideways inside the cabinet, and it's not easy for me to bend that way.....anymore.
    I'll try again.

I have 2 empire dv's,used them before to heat house when pellet prices were stupid, great in summer when need just a little heatbefore sun comes up.Used to have to clean the blowers 2 times a year when dog was alive, about doubles heat flow. But they also are like a camper heater or window a/c as they bleed heat from convection.Leaving pilot light on most of the year prevents this, and keeps bugs from building inside the outer pipes.But---a typical pilot light uses 1 gal propane per month.
