I may have to bite the bullet and pay 289.00 for a ton if the box stores do not resupply soon. I missed out on the presto logs. I agree 100 percent, Sets are one of the top pellets, but I can never find them at the box stores, only a local flooring company sells them!

Is that 289 for Sets? That is awfully close to Lacrete (294.00) and Spruce Pointe (290.00) around here (at least back in early December). How do they compare?

G , we can't get those down here ,so we can't compare although Steve did get to test the Lacrete's maybe if he does a test on the Set's we'll have some data to go on .
I think that Set's are in the same group as Turman's , Hamer's and maybe AWF hardwood ,but priced a bit less than the others depending where you are located.

Sub ,I hope this gives you a better idea of what all the fuss is about :)

Set's are a top tier pellet at a box store price

Those Somersets are very rare around here. They make an appearance once or twice a season at a random Lowes or TSC. This year, they appeared at the same TSC at least twice in the same season, which is pretty much unheard of? I had a quick e-mail thread with Sandy to ask how is that possible, and to ask can she let me know when more will make it this way, of course . From what she told me, it's rare and costly since it's such a long haul to get them here, but in some cases the store inventory manager can pull some strings and make a special request for them.

Then there's Long Pond, who carries them regularly at $285/ton (this year). Based on the few bags I picked for testing up a couple weeks ago - I would pay that without giving it a second thought. Heck, I have paid the same or more for pellets that weren't even in the same ballpark, as it turns out.

I like a nice course gritty ash, generally from pellets made oak flooring mill dust.
