I picked up 12 bags of these and just loaded the hopper with the first three bags. First impression is the pellets are very small. And they dont appear to be very dense by how much room they took in the hopper. I looked up their website and my feeling is these pellets would have a greater likely good of batch variation as it seems like they use different percentages of Hardwood and Softwood depending on what they have available.
They feed a little faster than average and look to have slightly less ash than average. Feed Rate: 2.9 lbs/hr Heat 144.1 For comparison: MinuteMan 2.6 142.1 Freedom Fuel 2.8 144.6 Okies Platinum 2.9 146.1 Nations Choice 2.6 144.6 Cubex 2.9 145.2 AWF Pine 2.6 143.6 Big Heat 2.9 144.1
I sure will prolly won't be till Sat/Sun when I toss them in ,the hopper is 3/4 full and I turned the stove down warm here today and the house is 78* right now .
OK 1.5 bags through the Harman , I like them, ash is light and fluffy . The ash does not really cake in the burn pot ,but it does not blow out of the pot either like Heatr's did . Heat is fine I got 6 more bags to burn Harman is gonna get a steady diet of these . Would I buy them again Yes Remember YMMV.
Update bag 5 going in tonight it's been cold here the past few days highs only in the 20's low tonight 5* the house right now is 77* in the stove room 70* in the Man Cave with the wood burner , I'm walking around in flip flops and shorts the Big Heat are working for me
I'm pretty happy with the 4bags that I used. one bag had alot of fines in it but that's the only complaint I have burned hot and average ash.
Everytime I see a pellet I haven't used i grab some bags unless they on the" no buy list " . I have to find what I going to stock up on for next year. I still have 70 bags of NEWP to use up. I'll never buy those again .
Basically I run in manual low for about 10 hours. Place a thermocouple about an inch away from my center heat exchange tube. Allow time to stabilize and take the average temp as indicated by the meter. Weigh bag before and what's left.
I do the same thing ,and make sure I grab one for Steve to test so we have some kind of base line to go on .
Dammit, do you know how many time I walked right past these at TSC earlier this season? Next time I see some, I'm grabbing a few bags to test!
