What do you pellet heads think about this?

Could your stat possibly be the issue? When my PDVC was new, my house wasn't insulated at all, and it did a lot better than what you're describing at lower heat settings. Maybe try it without the stat and see if that makes any difference?

Neighbor been running his on 3-5-1 with this little cold snap.

I also like the idea of taking it off of the tstat and trying it in manual.

You should be able to leave her burn on or around heat setting 3 and room blower 5 and come back to a toasty cabin.

 

New stat. The stove is throwing heat. It was friggin cold the last two days here. Like 5-10 in the middle of the night. And we had wind on top of that.

Right now it is warming up. About 25 out. I am down at camp and it is 49 in the room with the stove. On setting 7-7. The insulation is not that bad in the camp. The windows are very large though. But not drafty. Just cold coming through the glass.


I'm going to try adjusting settings up a little.

Do the flames in these pellet stoves get knocked down by the pellets getting dropped in on a regular basis? Then come back up.

So it has been about 15 minutes since I adjusted settings to 3-5-1. And I am on the 7-7 setting. I would think that the heat should be cranking out of this thing. There is heat coming out, but it does not seem very warm to me. The flame is now better than it was.

 

On a heat setting of 7, that stove should be cranking out the heat. Windows or not, it should be warmer than 49, even with the wind and cold.

That's because when you changed the settings, you started adding more pellets. At a feed rate of 7, you should have a decent sized flame at the factory setting and the stove should be cranking.

 

Could it be the quality of the pellets? I'm burning Timber HEAT right now.

I don't know anything about Timber Heat's, but if they're a decent pellet, I wouldn't think so. You said you have 1000 sq. ft., right? That stove should handle that and more.

 

The flame is better. Maybe it will take some time for the stove to heat up with that much air moving through it.

 

To make sure I am being clear, the 3 lower button settings are now at 3-5-1. The normal two buttons are at 7-7.

 

I'd still try it without the stat. At eliminate that as a problem. And if you call tech support, they'll probably tell you the same thing.

 

By normal you mean heat and blower?

 

DO you have an OAK? Outside air kit?

 

Sub. Like I said before. I turned the power off to the unit a while ago. That, I think, resets it to factory settings. Which is not on hi/low using the stat. And if I am wrong, I have had the stat set at 60 or 65, so the call from the Stat, if it was being used by the stove, is not met. So the stove should be running on the high, or 7-7. Right? I am new at this Pellet stove thing. So bear with me.

Gas....your flames should be kissing the top of the stove on that setting...is it not doing that?
