Yea Ray its hard out there.. wind kept blowing it back in my face. I just put in an hour with the blow and got less than half of my clearing done, and a fresh inch fell while I was out there.

Measuring a few spots I got 11in, 16in, 20in, and almost 3ft in one drift... so I have no idea what the real total is.

Some photos for those of you that got missed. enjoy :)

Wow jharkin. That is a decent amount of snow you have there. We have not had a storm that amounted to anything in a long while here.

    Me too.
I have a cab for mine so I don't get a face full but I don't want the wind ripping it off and sending it down the street or bending it all up giving me one more thing to fix. I don't have to worry about the cab/sail tipping the snowblower over I have an old Snapper 824. It's a heavy beast.

    on the edge???

Im not saying all of meteorology is a joke or that it is an exact science. But within 2-3 hours, the forecast was completely wrong. At 8pm last night, we were still forecast for 12"+ by all accounts. And woke up to barely a dusting at 7am. When I went to sleep at after midnight or so, the snow was forecast to be less than an hour away.

This kind of over-reaction goes much further than a few hundred dollars out of everybody's pocket. (Those of us who were forced to stay home for an unpaid day off, or use our sick/vacation time) declaring a SOE for most of southern NY, closed down most businesses. That costs the economy millions when most of us certainly could have made it to work this morning.

Perhaps we shouldn't be so hasty to declare a SOE before the first flakes fall? Even a 12" -18" snowfall is nothing that can't be handled efficiently with the equipment that is common to highway crews around here.

I feel for you guys that are getting 30"+ with high winds. I'm a little jealous too!

Snapped the shear bolt in about 3' drift. Go to replace, and I have plenty on hand.... But the manual has the size completely wrong. Nothing close enough on hand.

Used the tractor and bucket for 2.5 hours which included 6 other driveways. It's like a big shovel.... No fun.

Hoping to rig something up to get that blower back to operational.

Picked up another 3" so we probably have broken 20" but hard to tell with all the drifts.

Is the snow still good and dry for blowing Jeremy? Ya got a ton for sure. My son loves to blow snow at his place when he can send it with the wind direction. 20' turns into 100' in this wind... ;) Not so good against it... o_O Love the pics.

That is a lot of bird feeders. You must go through a lot of bird seed. Isn't cheap anymore. I only have two feeders. I have to ask my adult kids to fill them for me because I can't get to the them.
Still snowing hard here. Wind is fierce. 15 to 20 inches is the current prediction. Don't know how to measure that when it is drifting so bad.

Trailer latch pins work in a pinch as do regular bolts with a relief cut from a hacksaw or grinder to aid in shearing. Yep, I'm a jerry rigging professional.

Weather radar shows the system breaking up slowly. The snow band that was over central Ma is moving east through the area now. The 10 wheel city plows just came through and cut to the edge of our street. The small trucks were 6-8 feet off the edge this morning.
