Got it all stacked by myself. Nicely too, just in time for SNL. :)

I'd always take one instead of anyone's kid. I hate seeing little ones in pain.

Let's see, every afternoon and on tue and wed all night and sat/sun 2 times in the same day. It's kinda complicated to explain. 2 jobs with 2 different sets of days off and hours.

As long as you can make it work, that's all that matters.

How much snow do you have to get for it to be major?

I'd say a foot or more, but we are on the edge of this one. We only need about 8" more to be able to ride the snowmobiles.

[edit - didn't see others beat me to it]

Or a battery backup pump. I have both ;)

The backup has a lot of benefits - it will save you bacon if the power goes out while you are not home, or the primary has a mechanical failure. In the rare case of rain so bad the primary cant keep up, the battery can kick on in parallel to double your capacity. With multiple batteries you can get systems that can run up to a day or two.

If you are prone to long outages, you can do the battery backup + a cheap generator. If all it needs to do is run a 1/3hp sump even the $79 HF genny will do.

When I bought my house it had just a cheap pedestal pump. the year we had spring flooding (2010?) It almost died on me and the basement started to flood in spite of the pump running nonstop. It was noisy and vibrated the whole house.

Today I have a zoeller iron submersible backed up by a basment watchdog big dog battery system. the big dog can run continuous duty on AC if required. Both plumbed into a storm drain and if needed they can both run in parallel. with a genny to back up both in case of a long outage. Not cheap but its bulletproof.

Shes an accountant and going to hang a shingle soon. Spring Summer and fall is bawlztothewall busy. Winter we catch up on projects , maintenance , and game planning the next busy season.
