Nice score! The only issue I can see with these is getting the last few pieces out of the bottom. I think someone here modified one and added a door.
Maybe an extended log tongs will help with getting the logs on the bottom? Nice way to keep wood stacked and ready.
Pretty sure it was Machria who added a door. Nice find, I've been wanting to buy some but so far can't find anyone who will sell them without the container. I'll deal with the container if I have to but would rather not have to mess with it. Great way to store the unstackables.
I took a hole saw and drilled a bunch (A BUNCH) of holes in the liner and sawzalled the top off it. Pallet underneath it and now you have two containers.
We have a recycle center right down the road from us, so I used a saw and cut the plastic into manageable pieces and took it to the recycle center. Easy away to get rid of the plastic.
How much abuse do those things take? I'm considering a stack to garage strategy to cut out the current stop/stack at the woodshed step.
I'm going to try and stack the totes two high, these pieces are huge but will fit in the wood stove, won't be easy to remove. With smaller splits I might be able to pull through the frame holes.
I pick up the ibc totes from the ag chemical dealer in the area. The totes that are cracked or have broken valves they sell for $15. I pick up 2 every time I drive by when they are open.
Pretty durable, but they arent all the same. Some are made with heavier wire then others. I know a few guys here build their own and stack them two high. One pallet on the bottom and two standing on end in a U shape will hold 1/3 cord and they are stackable.
The ones I get are made of 1/2 conduit. They stack fairly nice but usually have to put a pallet down on the ground so they don't sink in and rust apart (learned the hard way)
I know if you clip the bottom corner of one that's full of liquid with a lift truck fork it makes a giant mess.. In some instances hazmat team has to be called in.. Not sure who would be dumb enough to make all of that happen..
