26ยบ out, 74 in the upstairs Buck's chewin on a load of cherry and american elm. Cherry and ash going in for the night burn. Not sure about tomorrow hunting...or...cutting wood....or both. Got the house and patio both topped off for wood as we are supposed to get some snow on Sunday, possibly some drizzle Saturday late afternoon prior to the snow. Forecasters have no idea what this snow storm is going to bring, very vague info.....I say bring it and bring it big.

The cube has been yielding red oak, beech and black birch lately. So that's what I've been burning. 36 out and very toasty inside.

Bill's got it....a direct vent through the wall heater.
It's been here a while and I'd have to go back and look at the tag to get the btu rating. It's got heat setting from 1-10 and I usually run it down around 1-2 on real cold night below about 5 deg. and it keeps the back of the house warm. Also helps keep the rest of the house from cooling too much by morning. I'm sure it's not super efficient, but it still works and I don't run it much.

Woke up to about 32 this morning and it's supposed to cool off to 2 by early tomorrow morning. Might have to run the DV again.
Still working on Oak, but I'd like to stop using that by the end of February, and get into the Maple.
    We'll see.

Pouring rain nor'easter - no cutting for me today.

Was supposed to go help a guy cut up a bunch of downed and piled red oak trees into lengths that fit his truck and deliver a "log load" of about two cords to my house today. Supposedly still on for tomorrow cuz they are in his way. and they gotta go.
Rain, rain go away I really need to get out and play.

Loon and Rottiman, I see we are predicted to be about twenty degrees below normal, both highs and lows, pretty much through February. SOemthing to look forward to.

We still have had no snow. They called for a couple of hours of flurries today....we in fact had a few drops of rain about 3:30, 29 degrees out.

Doesn't look like we'll have much snow in the foreseeable future either.

I got down to just hickory and ironwood in my first cord, so I am leaving it for next winter (almost all next winter's wood is sugar) and moving on to the next stack, which is topped by ash, then sugar below. Won't hurt the hickory to dry for another season anyway.
