    I think a yard is equal to 27 cubic feet. So in your scenario 6'x10' x .5'(6") = 30 cu.ft. 30 divided by 27 cu.ft/yd = 1.111 yd. Somebody might want to check me though.:emb:

Gravel is normally sold by the ton around here.

yes...the math above is correct for figuring yards.

Places with scales sell by weight....places without sell by volume.

I bought about 108 tons of gravel last year for the newer road to the camp. That got everything leveled out and raised up gooder. But the gravel has quite a bit of dirt in it and now I am going to have to go over it with good stone. This can get into spending some money! o_O Probably the cheapest way out will be to purchase crusher run with a mix of everything up to 4". Sometimes referred to as 4" minus. But it is all stone, from what I understand.

I got some re-ground up stuff from a local about 4-5 years ago. I think it was used asphalt...the stuff that comes out of those "asphalt eaters" they use to grind up old highways before they are re-paved. Man, not only was it cheap ($100 10 yards) but it just about compacted itself!

The weather has taken a turn for the worse. No more sun, bright blue skies (I guess our thaw is over) but now the power is flicking on and off about 4 times this past 45 minutes. Gotta be good for the computer, no?

That sounds like a good deal on that re-ground stuff. Good for you. The wind has really come up here over the last 2-3 hours. Cold!

Yeah, windy here yesterday and all through the night also. Just built a fire in the eldorado in case the power decides to drop for a longer time. OWB will maintain it's own heat during power loss, just can't circulate it.
