I have a huge pecan tree. A big fork broke out of it in a wind storm, probably about 1/2 a cord. I'm sure it would make fine stove wood but should I save it for the smoker? I normally just some with oak. Anyone tried pecan?

Pecan is awesome for smoking. I would make sure to save some for smoking chickens. I just finished a bag of pecan that was a gift from my son.

Huh? Rub it then put the skin back on? Now those would be some pics to post!! (Must be marinate injected, right?)
But at any rate, pecan is supposed to be great for smoking!

Yea. Under the skin so it really gets into the breast and the legs too. Easy to do. I'll post the pics next time.

Yea, you did it right. A little rub under the skin goes a long way. Why just rub the skin, right? A little olive oil or any cooking oil, mixed with your rub to make a paste, makes nicely colored and crisp skin. I haven't tried pecan, yet. I have half a cord of almond that is said to be similar to pecan. I don't burn it in the stove, it makes my meats to delicious for that
