Overnight lows in the teens are not that bad BUT NW winds of 25 knots gusting to 40 pushes it a little. My house's main exposure is NW.

Today's highs are supposed to approach freezing, tonight back into the teens.

Last night I decided to light the second stove. Woke up this morning to the house in the low 70s and both stoves purring on slow burns. It is nice to have the extra horsepower when you need it. The two stoves help distribute the heat a little better...

Looks like this cold pretty much covered the whole eastern half of the nation and some of the west too. More on the way.

It is 17f out and 68f inside, upstairs from the stove. Downstairs where the stove is, it is 69f, I would say the heat is fairly distributed. The wind is still fierce. Thousands in nearby counties without power, and won't have it tonight.
The wife has gone to bed wearing a sweatsuit and buried herself under mounds of blankets. I haven't run the furnace yet this year, however, I will set the thermostat so should the temp drop too far, the furnace will kick in.

Wood heat is the best back up in a power outage
Stoves should get you thru nice & warm thru the night.
    Hope you keep power.

No further power outages this morning, but the wind is still bending the trees. House is 67f Outside is up to 24f . This clearly is where a second stove would be really helpful.

And Wednesday it will be in the 60s again... It is 42° now, with a forecast of a low of 41° tonight. Temps will start rising after midnight.

One stove is already dying, just some embers burning out. The other is burning on low. By morning both will probably be cold and cleaned out.

Almost a typical late fall weather pattern!
