Welcome Willywil ! Can you share some more details on the stove? Pretty cool idea. I do like camping and this beats using the inverter and car to charge a phone.
The stove is called bio lite and are sold at a few well known retailers. It takes about 5-10 min of feed the fire which must be done through the top of the stove to get tthe Fire ht enough to charge my iPhone. Over the course of about a hour of charging on and off depending on the fire temp I was able to get about 10% charge. In fairness I was hang the the Pune here and there and uploading pics. So in realstic outdoor camping use as a charging device I'm not sure if I would rely on it solely. It would take a lot of scrounging for small sticks to maintain the fire for a full charge. Some of the cool things i found while using the stove is that it's able to burn green wood cleanly once the fire is going. I was throwing in scraps of red oak that was spilt the day before and it was not problem. It burned with complete combustion. No smoke I have another rocket stove that I'll share with the site soon. Hope this helps.
You could make something similar with tin cans. Would be real lightweight backpacking in and camping at remote locations.
Oh, i know. But I was only throwing the idea out there. I used to backpack hardcore. It is only another option i was sharing. The can could be used all weekend then tossed once out of the woods.
Well, I don't have an IPhone and the last thing I want to do camping in the great outdoors is be on my cell. I would rather be lost out in the woods with somebody. Lol.
