http://www.roadrunnersinternationale.com/transporting_the_a-12.html Some very interesting historical facts about a secret military aviation project in the early 1960's.
Guess when the trailer got stuck in the soft soil/sand they could have started the engines for a little boost!
That wouldve been a fun move.I love putting large machines in tight spots,as a millwright.I have seen a few of these pics nut love seeing the ones were they decided the route and what needed to be moved.
Thanks for posting that rotti. I saved the site and will do the reading later. It would certainly have been interesting to be involved with that. On being stuck in that loose dirt. When we wintered near Yuma, every year we'd see people get stuck. They'd no doubt see others parked off the road so thought they could do the same and would just turn off wherever they could with no regard for what the ground looked like. I'm betting some tow trucks made some good money getting those big motorhomes out.
Amazing piece of history. The 71 was and still is awesome. Love this story about that bad boy. Sends shivers down my spine whenever I read it. http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/favorite-sr-71-story-1079127041
Haha Nope I'm the guy who sets the machine by the print the idiot plant engineer gave me. Don't worry I always have to go back and fix the thing afterwards too.
There is that word that gives me "gastric cramps" every time I hear it............................"Engineer"!!!!! They can design a umbrella, but most wouldn't have enough common sense on how to use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Takes an Engineer to design it, takes a Tradesman to fix it and make it work..............................
I've laughed about the catch-all phrase that always seems to be included with the plans or spec book. "Field adjusted"!
