I probably wouldn't worry about it much as long as you take it to someone who knows what they're doing. The guy who did this saw does more guns/stocks than anything else and has been doing it for years, so by now I think durability issues would have slowed the business down. As a matter of fact he just recently finished a very large order from a well known firearms manufacturer.

This is the best pattern I've seen on a saw yet! I like the orange in it.

I've been kicking around the idea of having this done to something, not exactly sure what yet. Probably leaning towards the trim rings in my truck. I've seen a lot of people doing those and they turn out great. Anything is better than the glaring chrome trim.

That's actually why I went with a bright pattern . . . don't want tit to blend in too much! Also, I wanted to keep with the orange due to it being a Stihl.

That is awesome! I never thought about hydro dipping a saw! My lil 017/170 Frakiensaw could use a sprucing up!

Hate to say it but that looks like what OEM Poulan did years ago in Realtree. ;) They are neat though. :smoke:

I was thinking poulan did that. I know they had a real camo color pattern as well

Like I said, I'm not the first person to do this - wasn't claiming to have come up with the idea of it. I was just sharing my own personal experience. There are certainly no shortage of photos to be found on the internet of saws in various colors & patterns like camo, chrome, black, carbon fiber, etc., etc. I've even seen my share of pink saws for the 'ladies'. I always even figured a wood grain would express a hint of irony...

My brother does this to gun stocks. They are cool.

No need to explain to me IMO. I was just showing the poulan in same style.

I think dash trim bezels would be cool.

The outdoor shows always have people that do this. Lots of people get deer skulls done now a days like that for euro mounts.

There several places in this state I know that do it.

It's been a long time coming, but I finally got around to picking up a set of 460 plastics I had dipped. Same pattern as the 170 in this thread, but the base color is yellow this time instead of bright orange. Turned out pretty well I think.

If anyone is looking to spruce up their saw this is a pretty cool way that doesn't cost a whole lot more than a nice set of used plastics.

My brother in law just started doing hydrographics, I showed him the 170 you had done, we might give it a try... I'm going to let him get through his learning curve before I get anything with value dipped. ;)

Can't wait to see the 460 when you get it put back together!:ithappened:
