Hi all. I just wanted to introduce myself to this forum. I just purchased my first insert to go in the open fireplace in our home. Hopefully it will be installed in a week . Originally I wanted to go with a free standing stove but the raised hearth and small opening limited my choices. So a PE summit insert is what I went with. Although I'm new to using a wood stove I have 2 full cords of wood that has been split and stacked for at least 2 1/2 years. I hope it lasts this year.
Welcome to the forum!your going to love it here.Lots of great guys and they are always willing to help answer your questions. It's even better that you have some already dry wood to get started with.
Welcome to the fold! I think you'll find exactly what you need to fuel your addiction around here. I know I have.
Welcome to the forum Willy. That is good to have that 2 cord of wood on hand already. Now you really need to get a lot more cut. Here we promote the 3 year plan. Always have at least 3 years worth of wood split and stacked and top covered. That will solve 99% of any wood burner's problems. And thankfully so far we are having a rather mild winter.
Welcome to FHC! I still have an open fireplace and have not made the jump to an insert. That's my goal for next fall. I'm learning a ton every day from this site, despite having grown up c/s/s ing wood in a home that burned wood in a add on wood furnace and an insert upstairs.
Welcome aboard Willywil. It's really great you've already got wood for this winter, but since Dennis beat me to it, I'll just reiterate that you should start getting next years wood right now. Depending on the type of wood you're using, it'll take a while to get well dried and usable. We LOVE pictures here, so feel free to share if you'd like.
Welcome Willy, a lot of fun and learning on here one can enjoy. I gotta ask, is that a baked sweet potato in your avatar or something ? lol
OK OK, I inlarged it to have a better look, now I can tell. Glad to see you have sense of humor, comes in handy around here sometimes.
