gave us some shoulder season wood, two Hemlocks with a branch off a Maple. Pic 8204 & 06 are the Hemlocks.
Mother nature took good care of you. I didn't get a chance to get there back today, so ill report back tomorrow. At a glance, limbs looked to be it as well.
Nice twl. I'd love to get to my sis-in-law's for more, but don't want/need to get shot by hunters. That would be bad......and counterproductive.

Gusts 35mph tomorrow and COLD! Besides for taking a quick ride in the woods tomorrow, ill probably split the red oak I got today. Then, need to insulate these darn windows better or something. Wife wants to watch Hunger Games at the theater tonight, so we'll be heading into town shortly. Gonna load up on pretzel bites with jalapeno cheese sauce and sour patch kids. Good thing it will be windy tomorrow!
Hang on zap. That air was bitter out there today. Guess we have more coming too. Got a little snow but not enough to get excited about. Mostly it was the wind that was the problem.
Feel like a prisoner in my own home during hunting season. I have taking my dogs out to play after dark. New land owner across from me is posting that 34 acres. After 38 yrs. I plan to post my land. Too many hunters. The land on the backside of me along the power line is also posted. By law, there isn't any place on my land that any one should be shooting. I only own a house lot of just under two acres. Not once has anyone asked to hunt here. I actually like having the deer population kept in check. But I am just too old now for being upset at having hunters shooting so near my house.
Its almost midnight here, winds are sustained and gusting. Eager to check the woods now, since I just heard something fall, whether it was a small tree or branch. It was a slow eerie sound.
Wind was absolutely HORRIBLE here last night, temps down around 17° (don't know what the windchill was but it had to be in the single digits!!).....inside the house it never dropped below 73°, thanks to a couple splits of locust in both stoves right before bedtime!! Also got around an inch of snow, which gets me excited for some winter fun!! Stay safe and warm in that wind, fellas!!
The wind is picking up a little it seems. The temp is not bad, but the wind makes it colder than a witches tit!
Wind has and still is very gusty @ 40+mph. Its blowing in a different direction than usual. Already blew EPDM sheet off the 1 stack that was being held down by 6 heavy splits on a face cord!! Temps still only at around 20F and the wind is keeping the temps in the low teens. Insulating windows as we speak, preparing for tonight's cold. Looks like a Turkey storm is on the horizon. Tough travel week ahead.
I just saw that with the wind chill it feels like -10 for our area, I have a nice size sugar maple split that is going in east/west in the Liberty in about 10 minutes with some other uglies, then I'm off for a trip in the woods.

I'm staying out of the woods today, as well as the processing area. The sustained winds have backed off, but the gusts are still making it to dangerous to be near the woods. I have been keeping the stove running with uglies, and the house is a warm 75F despit it being 24F and windy. The wife and I spent most of the morning putting plastic on 4 windows all very large as well as alum/rubber weather stripping in the 2 door jams some caulk here and there, and things are noticeably less drafty already. Have a safe day in the forest Woody.
When I made it to the gate the wind started to pick up, I made my usual run then picked up some boards I milled from late summer. The wind did get stronger (it's real cold with the wind) so I brought the boards home then ate lunch. I hope mother nature gives me another week so I can clean that corner up.
I guess you had your deicer spray..... I think you'll get close to another week. I don't know how deep the snow is until you call it quits. Your storm Wednesday should bring a decent accumulation.
