Just wanted to say hello. I have been reading a lot of the threads and it seems like a pretty friendly place

I'm not much on forums really I tend to spend my time doing a lot of other things but there is a lot of good info here. I won't lie some is a little bit to much for me I don't get that technical with firewood however others enjoy it and that's the main thing.

Hope to learn a few new things and maybe offer a few things to others as well I figured I would share a pic of some wood I split the other day from what I've read on here so far you guys love pictures lol

    Hi Woodrat, welcome aboard...

What are you burning in? Are you a full time, supplemental, or ambiance burner?

Enjoy the crowd here and, based on what I have read, most of them love pictures and/or beer. That is in addition to their power tools, trucks, stacks of firewood, and various solid fuel burners.

    Oops sorry kapt jaq.

I have a indoor furnace add on I also have a wood pellet stove insert it gets used when it's super cold or a day when it's not cold enough for a fire in the stove but just enough to take the chill out of the air. The pellet stove was a primary heat source for 10 years along with propane
I got tired of paying for pellets and gas and still being cold I have a old farm house it wasn't insulated real good I have since fixed some of that problem
Ive been burning wood now for three years and while I don't really keep track of how much I use in cords. I use roughly 20-30 truck loads per season last year was 35 this year about 10 so far

I enjoy cutting wood I like splitting it I despise stacking it and I defenatly love sitting in a warm house enjoying the reward of the hard work

I would like to add I may be new to burning firewood at my home but I grew up heating with wood

I have several resources available to get my firewood anywhere from a garden tractor and wagon which is quite handy I must say to bringing in the big stuff

Hey, always nice to see new folks join the group. You'll find that folks here get as technical as they like.
Good times here no matter what. Great folks to hang out with.

Not my equipment but it sure helps when your best friend owns a excavation business and lets you use the equip. I get a lot of my wood that way.
It helps that I have a Cdl license and use his trucks to haul it home

Saws well they nothing extorirdinary just two stihils. 291. I can get bigger saw if needed and I plan on buying a 441 this year But I don't go after big wood unless it's really easy I cut a bunch back in the fall he cleared.

If I couldn't lift it myself I didn't get it. Another friend got it I helped him cut it we had to load it with a excavator not the stuff in the pic above though. I have three splitters I think I'm going to rework one and put a lift on it

Welcome, Woodrat1276 ! I know all about drafty old farm houses and struggling to keep them warm.
