billb3: It is the same here. Low this morning was about 12 F, clear & sunny. Tomorrow highs near 50 F & heavy rain. I keep going from burning both stoves moderately to burning the upstairs stove normally annd letting the the downstairs stove idle. The changes are so frequent, extreme, and rapid that there is no reason the let the downstair stove go completely cold. Still burning mixed oaks upstairs and coal downstairs. KaptJaq
We hit -19 this morning, up here the temp was 68, the sleeper was 66 and the basement was 78. We ran both the pellet & the wood stove last night...........just the wood stove today. We're at 12.9, almost time to get outside for some roof raking by the gutters. We had Chili last night and tonight will be some White Bean Soup.
Been pretty mild here during the day and looks like that will continue. At night it's been pretty cold but ash mixed with a little oak keeps it toasty. Burning up some cookies and ash chunks from trimming down splits to fit in the stove as I type..
Well this gives me a chance to burn some more odd balls and chunky monkey's, 44 now ,low 32 tonight , I'll take it
Made it to 48º while we were out and about today. Came home to 78º inside, have a small silver maple fire burning now. They changed the forecast for tomorrow now, only supposed to hit 34º but mix of snow and rain. Good day today bought a new Mazda CX5, pick it up Monday evening.
Wow, went to bed it was 12º. Overnite the temps went up and now at 6:30 it is 42º Supposed to get to at least 50º so the fire's going out so I can clean out the pancakes ( ash clinkers ) in the ashes and some of the ashes too in the back. I've pulled them out and even some ashes too while still burning but I make a mess poking around stirring up ashes and inches of hot coals.
Right at 30º here this morning. I'm letting one large split of Ash on top of a nice large bed of red hot coals finish heating the boiler and tank all the way up to 190. Then it is shut down time. I'm going to clean the boiler and the pipe from the boiler to the chimney. I was suppose to do that a while ago but have been putting it off.
Same here, went to bed it was about 5 above zero, this morning it is 19. Stove cleaning day today. By the looks of the forecast, the really cold weather has disappeared for the foreseeable future.
Sirens in the distance woke me up this mornin, news saying surprise ice storm. Well, it's been below freezing and its pouring= freezing rain. Good thing we didn't cut the dogs nails last night otherwise he would have slid off the deck. Stove loaded with pin oak this morning, temps expected to rise above freezing in another 2 hours,so that should help ease up this ice.
