I have a coworker that I finally gave up on after arguing to the point of they are pizzy now. They won't split the wood and only are collecting winters wood in late summer and fall. They reek of wood smoke all winter. When people bring up the aroma I take the opportunity to point out the difference in techniques and how bad they think of wood burning should be reevaluated by visiting a responsible wood burners home.
Exactly, thinking "they are out to get us" will not get us any where or will sticking our head in the sand, education is key but in some cases as you put it so well you are right next door to some one who might not like wood burning and if you have bad burning practices he gets a face full of smoke if conditions are right. I am more then will to help out the effort but I dont have the skills to organize a group. I do think that in some areas they might get stuck with the burn bans no matter what, it has been reported for years how bad some valleys are, not sure what the nitty gritty details were but my guess it was more then not running EPA stoves.
So do you have restrictions on energy saving devices, seems like they are cramming energy saving devices down our throat.
?? Isn't burning wood helping you save energy? Burning it properly makes you a hero, I'd say.... Preaching the proper burning techiniques makes you a wizard. But the blanket rules that are being proposed by the crooked EPA (and yes they are crooked) aren't fair to the honest woodburners. And countless groups trying to argue that burning g trapped carbon fuels is better for our world than wood. That's total BS. As I've already said, the refinement/transport/extraction pollution of those fuels like nat gas, oil, coal, and gasoline FAR outweigh any pollution of a woodburner. In both quantity and chemical analysis. Are you really going to argue that I'm wrong here?
Coal makes oil look good... Coal dust is so toxic it is ridiculous. They get by dumping the ash and klinkers and creating a toxic wasteland: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/coal-ash-is-more-radioactive-than-nuclear-waste/ Lawsuits against the EPA by the coal states has forced them to delay limits in coal ash dumping: http://www.publicintegrity.org/2013...w-coal-ash-rules-residents-turn-courts-relief 12 states that produce and burn coal are also suing the EPA's attempts to limit CO2 production in the US: http://coal.steelguru.com/north_america/1115/epa_faces_suit_from_11_groups_over_coal_ash And NG is not as clean as the gas companies like to claim in their environmental ads. Fracking will have massive future consequences on ground water supplies, and burning NG releases even more radioactive radon than coal does: http://www.examiner.com/article/natural-gas-is-dirtier-than-coal-redux-radioactive-dust Of course, the coal, NG, oil and nuclear industry have MONEY to spend on LOBBY efforts and advertizing, and getting our good POLITICIANS elected. The wood lobby? Ain't one really. Small potatoes. Its all about money. Forget future generations, the environment, etc. Greed and short term profit rules all.
Scotty Scotty Scotty, I somehow think you missed my point (and a few others). As far as being fair to honest wood burners, no sheet, when have they ever been fair to any one for the most part. Remember when they went after the 2 stroke motors, now in the big picture how much of a problem do you really think that was? Fair is a four letter work that starts with F. I think it pretentious to think "they" are after us wood burners, they are after any thing and ever thing weather it makes sense or not.
Not sure how some of you seem to think I am on their side, I am not by any means. The idiots burning wood are a big problem no matter what you think. For some reason people dont like clouds of smoke in their yard, go figure.
I miss read his post but they do want clean energy, they are just testing what comes out of the pipe nothing less nothing more. "Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster. "
Well you guys keep thinking "they" are out to get you and not face the facts on what the hell they are doing and "they" will get you.
Like I said in my one post I am more then willing to help fight this but someone smarter then me will have to organize it.
Sparky I'm not picking on you but here's one point I'd like to make and I'm at dinner with my lovely wife so you'll have to look the facts up I can't right now but....... I live in a fracking state and you wanna talk about destructive and polluting mess....whole communities have their water supply poisoned and the EPA does NOTHING about it. Because they are payed off to turn the cheek. And they push regs against the little man because he's burning wood. I'll continue to fight myself and reiterate YES THEY ARE OUT TO SCREW THE LITTLE MAN......govt gets tax monies AND money to "regulate" the gas co's. Like Stihlhead and others have said these big lobbies have money and clout.
So what the fork are you doing on this site, other than stirring up shyte? We are all idiots here, according to you?
Sparky, you and I have seen different views from time to time and in some things I agree with you and others I didn't, but please let me make this point… When someone gets you in their cross hairs, they will not stop until they have accomplished the task or at least gave it a dam good fight. I have spoken to people that were so "hell bent" on "CLEANING" the earth up and saving the planet that no matter "WHAT" you said to them it made absolutely no difference. Lets face this fact, 10,000 years ago there were ice bergs in Texas! And we didn't do it with our wood stoves! I "AGREE" with you that nobody wants to be bombarded with smoke, but in this case I "REALLY" don't believe this is the situation, only because I know the area. The propaganda machine and liberal agenda will fuel this fire in her area. There are $$$ people who don't think twice about $500 for a fuel bill a month, where most of us would be devastated. Thats the difference! She just happens to be in a spot! I also agree with you that "IDIOTS" are one of the big problems for us, so we have to do our part. To get back to "THEY" are out to get us, sooner or later, if enough attention is brought on to our cause, "whether good or bad", people take notice… If we get bad publicity and don't back ourselves up with good facts, it could be the death of wood burning as we know it!
No he's not stirring anything up, just bringing points he's seen to the table. As we all know there are two sides to the story so let's not turn this into a chit-slinging festival here......
You just made my point for me, they are not out to screw the little man but the little man gets screwed. Enjoy your meal and ignore me!
