I've been messing with these things all week.....I'm not excited about the intake timing numbers they end up when machine work is done on them. So.......
Any other saw that needs that attention? Is it because of how much needs taken off the base? Large squish from Stihl..?
The intake is already low.......then when I machine the squish band, and the base, it gets a little to low for my taste. I wonder what's up with the pics?
Thanks for bringing this to FHC Randy! I've got my eye on a 661 and the few guys here that have posted pics with theirs are not helping me fight the urge any.
The lower the intake, the less case compression the engine will have. Case compression occurs from the time the intake port closes, and the upper transfer ports open. I like to see around 40* of crankshaft rotation between those points. The way I have this cylinder setup it has these timing numbers...... Ex: 100* Tr: 120* In: 80* These are opening points as measured from TDC.
No, they really didn't. With the intake timing where it is, it's sorta like they were trying to keep me from getting big gains. I'll show dem Germans......
Are those numbers similar to an 066 or 660? Best I remember my 660's exhaust was at 101? Since mine had a damm good jug!
