It was said earlier today how spoiled us that live back east were that oak is everywhere and we could walk out or front door and cut it.Well that's just what I did wanting to give my newly acquired 365 special a workout.I am SPOILED pics that it happened. Heres some pics of it piled up got a little dark on me.I saved a couple pieces for making doughnuts
We sure get are share last year we had 180" recorded to the east of us at ski resort Here's a pic from first snow of the year early november thought it was more recent.
Us folks back east aren't spoiled, we are blessed. Were planning on cutting Saturday. Neighbors had their 70 acres timbered a couple years ago and there are tops everywhere!

Got a good one low hours on it if it wern't for the scratches on the clutch cover you would thinks its new looking at the piston.These specials got some nice torgue runs great.First time having it in wood.Got to still get the limiters off the carb.I tuned it by ear
I am wrong It's a Maple sorry to mislead you all .Most of my yard has Oak mixed with cherry got nice amount of apples only a few maple.Most of are firewood I gather is oak that is dead standing naked.Iwould prefer not to cut a live one down.
Yes, many are blessed with lots of oak. We really don't have that many on our place but enough so that we can burn oak during the coldest part of winter in most years. We've probably burn more if we had it but then there is all this ash that is dead. Hate to see it go to waste.
Unless you have diseased dead standing, or a dead tree that threatens property or person, you are actually better off leaving the dead standing as habitat for fauna. They don't draw any nourishment from the soil or impede the growth of neighboring trees. Better to cut live subpar to give good trees room to grow.
