80cc direct drive powerhouse sold from July 1958 to May 1959.Will pull 30" bar/chain comfortably all day long

Seen this on Ebay a couple times in past 2 weeks.Looked like an interesting project that just has minor issues.Didn't sell, owner dropped the price at least once & relisted yesterday.I made an offer this morning & they accepted it. Should see it middle of next week. :dex::ups: :dancer:http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.n...f776601d358f517f88256b000067d97a?OpenDocument

Yup I thought so. $100 shipped to my door. If I change my mind or don't wanna spend the time & little expense on fixing it in the future (yeah right)  I can always get my money back by parting it out. :D

Does "direct drive" mean there's no clutch??? Never heard that term before regarding saws.

'Direct Drive' is an old school term for a setup like your 610. It was used to differentiate from gear drive saws also marketed at the time.

direct drive means just that -clutch transfers power via the sprocket directly to the chain,at full rpms. Gear drive saws have a gear reduction transmission that turns the chain slower, but much greater torque.Gear drives will not bog down in anything, they just keep on chewing through whatever's in their way.

    Good find. Hopefully she'll be a runner.:saw:
I love the part in the description: we're sorry if shipping seems high but this saw weighs 27lbs before packing.

My 125C is approx.32 lbs with full tanks & 30" bar,but don't feel that heavy cause its so damm fast..Yet the 1-80 with smaller engine,longer/heavier bar & chain is around 35.It feels more like 45-50 though :picard:

Actually some saws were better than others - the Super 44 powerhead only weighed 19 lbs dry,was rated at 6.5 horsepower in 1959.By the early-mid 70's saw companies really started getting their act together performance wise.My 125C is 100% stock except for electronic ignition module upgrade that replaced the old points/condenser.It was rated between 10 & 12 horsepower & 11,000RPM wide open no load.Around 9000 was recommended setting when in the cut.

One of the optional high performance racing cart engines available as an add on in the early mid 70's - the 101B was estimated 15 horsepower & 12,ooo RPM's o_O :dex::smoke:

Nothing Husqvarna or Stihl makes today can touch that, their biggest saws which are very close in displacement,a few hundred more RPM & a pound or so less weight are just 8.4 & 8.6 horsepower, respectively.

Arrived today.Good compression/spark,all parts present/unbroken.Manual oiler is like a geyser, couple pumps & its right out there.Needs fuel line & minor carb work,a good cleaning.

All in all pretty good shape for the vintage.I'll get started on it hopefully in a few weeks.

Another one will be here soon - Model 380, an 87cc/5.3cubic inch beast produced from June 1963 to May 1964. :dex: Looks great for the vintage.

Have only seen a few of this model, not a lot of the 300 series from the early 60's were sold. Most of the parts will interchange with over 30 other different model numbers sold from 1958 to 1967 however.Either 80 or 87cc.

$110 shipped to my door, that's a fair price for a project that just needs minor tinkering.Getting Fed tax refund tomorrow, gonna pay for the saw tomorrow morning. It should arrive in about a week.:ups:

Looking for an Illustrated Parts List for it also, found an original I made an offer on,just waiting to hear back from the Seller.I've bought several other manuals etc from him in the past,so I'm pretty sure he'll accept it.

Grabbed this also from another Seller - the fullwrap handlebar alone is worth $25-30 easily, the clutch covers $15 each, couple good used air filters $8-10 each, air filter cover $10-15 plus all that miscellaneous stuff, even see a clutch, that's $15-20 if sold ''ala carte" All of this for $40 + 22 shipping :vulture:

Even though it says '' parts for 200/250 saws'' - most of these will fit some 30 different models from 1958 to 1966 or so...80 & 87cc depending on models.
