The weather sucks so I went to Stihl dealer and bought a set of heavy duty dogs and all the mounting hardware for the new 461. Can't wait to crank this thing and get it into a tree!

Looks mean! I'm sure the bite will be worse than the bark once you dig those in and let her rip! Cheers!

Is that extra piece to deflect exhaust or a dust shield?

Dust & chip shield, I think. But even the Stihl guy couldn't tell me for sure. I don't think it will be in the way. If it does I'll remove it.

    Looks great!

I've got some dogs I'd like to put on this 044, but I'm not sure what hardware to use. If I was just going to get some at the hardware store, can anyone tell me what size I need?

That's the spikes for the wrap handle version. I haven't seen the deflector like that.

I've never seen that deflector before either, I thought the OP made it at first.

The deflector is a first for me too.

Now he just needs the roller catcher and he will be all set.:yes:

There is a 460 Rescue currently for sale on CL that has that exact setup. So I would say it is the Rescue set up.

Could be, I don't know. I just ask for the heavy duty spikes for the 461 and that's what they sold me. He printed out the parts page as installation instructions but it didn't show the wrap handle.
