Yes succaneers get first pick, and they need a qb. But, I don't think mariota will pan out in the NFL if they expect him to do wonders in year 1. I also know that he shouldn't have been named heisman winner. Gordon deserved it and will contribute more in year 1 than mariota. I don't hate mariota, I just think he's a product of the system. He's definitely talented, but heisman voters need to look at the bigger picture, and treat it like the MVP award. It doesn't need to be a qb.
You can read and see it here: http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/01/oregon_campus_subdued_after_du.html Or here: http://collegefootball.ap.org/article/eugene-no-major-incidents-after-oregon-loss-ohio-state Seems that only a few fires were started in Eugene after the loss... if they had won there would probably have been rioting in the frat district. OSU on the above web sites refers to Oregon State University (the Beavers) and not Ohio State, or Oklahoma State. The Beavers did not even make it to a bowl game this year. My oldest brother is probably seething, as he went to the UofO. I went to San Diego State University myself, and I do not really care that they lost. I watched halfway through the second quarter and it was obvious they were self-destructing. I listened to the rest on the radio. Meh...
Also it did not help that their best wide receiver, Carrington failed a drug test and was positive for marijuana. Which will be legal in this state as of July 1 of this year, BTW. That will be an interesting clash with the NCAA. The Ducks football team have had a long history of failing pot tests, and their ball paying egos are as large as a Mac truck by the age of 18. My brother used to complain that it was common there at the UofO for the football players to be given the answers to all of their exams ahead of time. They also have easy classes, many of which they do not even have to show up for. 60 Minutes did an expose on that about a month ago. They were (and still are) not there to study anything but football and for getting their heads bashed in. It was the same at SDSU. People seem to tolerate producing pulverized brain dummies and idiots from college in the name of football programs and big money. Then they are fed to the pros where they generally eaten alive and pooped into society where they generally fail miserably. But they get gobs of perks and their big moments in college. I feel sorry for the poor sod from Oregon that dropped that long ball when he was wide open and no one was with 10 yards of him. Right off his fingers. He has to live with that memory for the rest of his life.
Oh, and speaking of pot-heads, literally... out here they think that those stupid stickers on the Ohio State helmets are marijuana leaves! They do look like pot plant leaves.
I'll have to look for that 60 minutes episode online. Very interesting, as it's something I've known to be true for a while.
Wow what a physical beating OSU put on that soft pac-10 team. All we heard all week was how OSU wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace. Guess the experts forgot the best way to slow a team down is to break their will physically. Lucky for the duckies OSU had 4 turnovers or it could have really gotten ugly
