They sell Efco at Menard's (Midwest Home Improvement chain) and they look/feel cheap to me.

I have read many forums from different clubs and find most who bash Efco has never even ran one! So how would they know? I always try a product before I write it off as being cheap or unsuitable.

As well you should. I was merely stating that Menard's sells them...and there isn't anything special about them (look and feel about the same as your average box store gear...cheap). Never said I wouldn't buy one or wrote them off...or bashed them.

I'm not sure I see the advantage in being a dealer.

I wonder if any of the builders have done any modding to them they would share?

Yeah, these days its harder than ever. Stocking requirements, low profit margins and getting the name out. Not easy these days. Most logging companies have gone to shears and automation instead of saws with the exception of bucking and smaller operations. And I only stated the above statement as a generality. No offense.;)

Mastermind has done a 50cc in john deere colors and an 80cc in the olemac version. The efco saws have been produced under several names including olympyk, oleomac, john deere and emak. I have also seen a port job on a 70cc model and a 99cc model but can't remember which name was on the saw.

I have heard dealer say they are built for the long haul and not speed. Which is fine with me. I would rather have one that would last. But I am sure they can be modded to run faster. Really I just wanted to offer something different, a choice.

Besides, there's already a stihl and husky dealer in town. And being territorial, I can't sell them.

I try to bash a product BEFORE I try it! I get more accuracy in my evaluation that way!

Why not ? Theres 3 Husky dealers within 10 miles or so of me .....plus Home Depot . At least 3 Stihl dealers...3 Dolmar dealers and what seems like 10 Echo Dealers ! Most of which have been in business with those brands for 10 to 20 years . Everyone still uses saws for there intended purposes by me still . No big mechanical cutters I was in the firewood business and other ventures for a few years . I know if I put my pride before making money.......I slept better...but had less to eat !

LOL !!! I think half the problem is that no one knows about these . Sometimes things that are unknown become great . Other times you soon understand why they never made it . No offense here seriously....but thats all I hear is that they are good . But no one ever shows me proof . Im gonna be told a story of like 2 guys who have had em 25 years . They love them . But maybe that was the only dealer of anything in a small town.....15 years before a fella could buy most brands of saws on the internet ! I know you want Efco to catch on...and for your sake I hope it does . But lets be real here ! Send me one........or how bout you test some a put vids online . Full reviews and cut times . Pros and cons . Because there are some of both ! Dont tell me I cant knock em till I try em.....because theres no evidence of anything good to say either .
Ok..thats my rant for the day !! LOL

Thanks for being honest man. I have a mt 4400- 16" saw demo. I may well post some vids of it. The saw is 42.3 cc and I find it comparable to stihl and similar saws of its size. The name will be tough to get out,but I don't give up easily. Personally I like the well known names. Probably didn't sound like it, but I do. If jonsered got its distribution together , I would maybe pic them up again.:D

I see you have a husqvarna 350. I had one for 6 years. Hell of a good saw without breaking the bank!
