I use a T Mobile flip phone with their pre paid plan, just use it to make/receive calls and texts. I can put $100 on it and well last me over a year and can roll the unused minutes over as well.

I ended up ordering a Galaxy S5 its supposed to come with a $100 VZW gift card and a years subscription to Netflix so that pays for the phone. Ive been playing with my wifes S4 and I went and checked out the phones at the store and decided for what I use it for and since Im not a techy it should be fine. I should get it Mon or Tues Ill get it activated and give yall a review as to how I like it and how well it operates. Thanks for all the input and advice I learned some interesting things about phones that I didn't know.

Sounds good. Most new phones have way more capabilities than most people need.

My brother has an s5, he seems to like it, but he had an s3 before, so he was used to Samsung's interface.

For me the voice controls and all that stuff that the moto x has made sense, and now will even make more sense as i will be driving more with my new job.

I've got an Amiga 500 in the basement, on the shelf right next to the VIC 20, a C-64 and a C-128D. And a pile of floppy drives and a couple cassette units. And a couple hundred floppy disks.

I figured those could be part of my retirement fund someday, but I don't think that's going to happen. I grew up with those machines and can't bring myself to part with them. I fire them up once a year or so, usually on a snowy day when I don't feel like doing anything else. If not those, then maybe the Atari 2600. :)

I remember when all those things were state of the art....

That's something I've tried my best to keep from doing, and one of the things I really like about my wife. After dating girls who'd spend the entire time I was with them with their noses in their phones, it's a relief to be with someone who isn't tied to her phone. On the flip side it's annoying when I need to get a hold of her when I'm at the store picking something up for her, and she left the phone in the bedroom on vibrate and doesn't get back with me until several hours later!

Wow, you just struck a nerve. My wife has her phone physically attached to her right hand, she goes to the bathroom with it, to bed...everywhere, it drives me nuts. We will sit down together on a sunday afternoon, pick a movie to watch and do you think she could avoid not picking it up for 2 hours, nope....I think she needs therapy. I think I just ranted about my wife, sorry...

Yeah, some girls (and guys) have big issues. I once took a girl to a bonfire, and she sat there most the time messaging the other girls there on Facebook. THEY COULD HAVE JUST TALKED IN PERSON SINCE THEY WERE SITTING 6FT AWAY!!!! And it wasn't even a private conversation, it was posted directly to their public Facebook walls.

Because of busniess calls, I always have my cell with me. But there are days this thing is ringing off the hook and I'd like to throw it in the drink. My wife is always checking e-mails for her business and watching her web pages for feedback. But at her age I don't see her acting like the bonfire date you had, shes just super conscious about keeping in contact for her work. 50% of her business comes from the local internet. Just sucks somestimes

Congrats on the new phone mattjm1017 ... This has been a interesting read. I'm really trying to narrow down my next to either a 6 or a 6 plus... I've got the 5 right now and like how it fits my hand. I thought I'd like a bigger phone, but after playing with both of them I'm in limbo. Cause they are almost too big for one handedness.... But that's the major negative, other than that I really like them. I've had the 3 and the 4 also, so I like the format of the Iphone. They've all survived my abuse, probably due to having a good well built case helps.
